Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Cupid Stunt, Nov 5, 2013.

  1. Yeah, I know that, just wasn't sure whether there was some treatment that was being done other the just spraying it on.

  2. Had venture shield fitted, tail tidy, fork protecters (crash bobbins) radiator guards, and the ACF 50 so just a couple of bits done lol

  4. Vince, I assume they already have the venture shield for the 899 :) may I ask what you paid for that?

  5. I think I paid £210 for mine

  6. I paid £200 for mine fitted

  7. VJ I got to agree with you on all points except the rim colour "I like it"
How many miles have you clocked up? I have got 213 so far :)

  8. Just ordered a white one at the weekend, 848 was picked up yesterday, sad to see it go but 899 is enroute so won't be sad for long :)

Coming from P&h like a few of them on here so I may see you in the road.

Should be picking it up by the 21st dec and hopefully termignoni's should have arrived.

  9. I have just had my 600 mile service done this week and Termi's fitted so yes they are there :)
I was gutted seeing my 848 evo go but the 899 is making upfor it even just running it in.
Picking 899 up this morning and taking it for a short spin just to listen to the sound so yeah may be see you around in the new year :)

  10. I'd be very interested to hear how they perform vs the 848 (and the Evo Corse in particular if someone has traded that model in). I love the look of the 899 but would like to spruce up the paint job when I get one.

The seed has already been sown with SWMBO

  11. El Toro, theres no difference in sound between the 848, 848 Evo & 848 Corse as standard or when all 3 have Termi's.
However the 899 with standard cans sound much better than my 848 evo with termis :) so I am expecting the termis on the 899 to sound pretty fecking awesome :)

  12. The sound is one thing but I'm interested in the handling, performance etc too.

  13. Well Performance wise I cant help you with just yet as still want to bed the engine in a bit more but it feels a lot more responsive I did take the demo out and give that a handfull of throttle and was pleased with the end result it takes off very well,
Its a lot smoother at slower speeds i.e. filtering through traffic when you roll the throttle on it just picks up and goes but does it in a smooth action rather than the jerky motion off the 848
848 30mph 2nd gear coughs and splutters and you feather the clutch a bit to smooth it out
899 30mph 2nd gear 3rd gear theres no drama its smooth you roll on the throttle and it just responds.
Handling well it is a Ducati after all, it tips in very nicely but that could be the new tyres,
Overall it is a better bike plus all the extra electronic gizmo's DTC, ABS, controllable EBC.
Everything is programmable so you can re programme to suit any individual riders needs.

And before you ask I am not a Ducati sales person :)

  14. I think the Evo Corse I have has all that the new 899 has except the ABS so I am used to those gizmos. Does the 899 have a slipper clutch?

As far as it coughing and spluttering at low speeds I don't get that. But I think that is just a riding style thing, as it did when I moved from my R1 to the 848 EC SE and I tried riding it in the same way. But then I changed my riding style to suit and I didn't get that chugging etc.

As I say I love the look of the Panigale/899 but would maybe want to change the paint job.

  15. I had both the 848 and the Evo and the chugging was present in both, when your trickling through traffice it coughs and splutters even though your holding the throttle steady. I am not the only one that has said that either I have heard it a thousand times.
I aint new to the Ducati's I have had a few.
In all fairness I noticed the coughing when I first went to the 848 but you get used to it, it wasnt till I rode the 899 and saw how smooth it was that I realised how different they are.

The only thing to do is take a demo out and see for yourself, as they say the proof is in the eating.
We all have our individual needs likes and dislikes , we all ride differently and expect diferent things from our toys.
I like my toys to make lots of noise, handle well and bring me coffee in bed in the morning ........ Oh sorry thats not the bike, well............??

  16. Ducatis only cough and splutter when pootling sub-3000rpm, if running standard out-of-the-factory fueling (shit).

    I have a scooter for all sub-3000rpm riding :)

  17. Thats just it the 899 doesnt you can trickle through heavy traffic at 2000 revs smooth as a babies bum :)

  18. You bought an 899 to trickle through traffic?!

  19. The 899 seems to be getting big praise; just to clear up though. I am confident that although there is some 'hunting' at low throttle openings; it is about 20 times better with a 14t front sprocket which is a £25 fix.

I am sure the 899 is still a better bike in every area but I just wanted to say that the 848 is a mile better fuelling wise than my Triumph Daytona 675 was, low throttle openings were like an on/off switch!

I'm deffo NOT going to test ride a 899!!

  20. No I didnt buy an 899 to trickle through traffic, but there are a few places where I have no option but to filter through traffic at low speeds, what I dont want is my bike to cough and splutter like a gerriatric on 80 fags a day.

Phill, dropping to a 14t front made no difference its the throttle bodies and the way fuel is delivered. I also have the same problem with the street fighter but its a lesser tuned engine and not such a big issue.

The 899 is getting hi praise but believe it or not it is so much better in the flesh, riding one is such an experience, I now have my Termi's fitted it sounds awesome.
As for fuelling while running it in it has been showing an avg 49.4 to the gallon and it spends most of its time at 6,000 revs which is 101mph............ whoops. To be honest anything over 35mpg I am happy with, but hey I didnt buy it for its fuel economy lol

Go on test ride one you know you want to, you will love it.
