Ive ridden both. But id prob have the 899 if you werent too worried about cash. Ride both back to back and see how you go.
would say power on the 899 is more linear, had my 848 fettled with so was a little snatchy. 899 certainly better in traffic, was under no pressure to change the 848 until i rode the 899 for a long test drive, got back on the 848 and that was that - new bike ordered
I bought the 848 Corse one new last July when the PCP offer came on. Had not been looking to buy but had a shite year last year and thought sod it. That coupled with a good part ex value made me do it. Had wanted the 848 for a long time and so love it. I knew at the time there would be an 899 coming out but was not overly worried.... Having said that, I do look at the white/red 899 and think about it.... But I have the 848 for another 2 years or so max so if the want is still there at the end of the PCP I can always change to an 899 then....
Power is much of a much between the two bikes looks like its going to be more usable on the british road track than that awld 1199s and I will be more than happy with any of them ,so will try them out on Friday for size yungin
I'm with Ozz, I knew the 899 was coming but bought my 848 because I have always loved them, it just needed scratching! Have you found a 848 to test ride yet? The 899 will obv be easier to find for a demo.
NO will have a look on Friday but don't hold to much hope we only have one dealer in Newcastle 899 should be ok for a test ride the 848 is a different matter !! Bought my 1098s from a dealer in Carlisle so will give them a call to see what they have, there about 60 mile away. cheers Alan
