899 Popular.....or common

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by BIG M, Jan 28, 2014.

  1. Because its the best all-round superbike Ducati have built to daTe, obviously ;)

  2. I read this as being registrations. Not the same as sales. There will be a number of demo bikes as well as pre reg perhaps to meet end of year targets (?)and then genuine sales

Don't get me wrong, I think it is a great bike, but am just not sure re the accuracy of this article.

  3. Roll on summer.....more riding less typing, .too much time on ones hands!!

  4. what because some quote from DUK says so:rolleyes:,………….and is it a superbike not a supersport? i thought the 1199 panigale was the super bike……is it better than that?

  5. lies damm lies and statistics…….148hp…...

  6. Like what? I'm not changing anything and don't 1199 owners add bling to get close to S or R versions?

  7. The bikes had to be registered for the road with the buyers not dealers. I reckon it's close to the truth but definitely fueled by cheap finance and Termi's
The sales push also followed a widespread and glowing press launch at a very wet Imola.

  8. I'm always surprised how the 749 seems to be more popular on here than the 999.

The 748 also seems to as popular if not more so than the 916, excluding the more exotic versions.

So maybe the 899 will be a lot more popular than the 1199. After all, you pay less and can use more of it in most situations.

  9. Adding bling is a compulsion you unwittingly develop after buying the bike no matter what it is. I bet the owners of the superleggera are trawling eBay for some aftermarket shiny bits!.

  10. popular amongst the ducati massive, common as in get them off there japs maybe not

  11. I Agree Phil, I stuck my leg over one at the NEC and it had the same DNA as my 17 year old SS, I think riders over 6' might find it a bit cramped, it's a small bike.

  12. If "sales" carry as they did in Decemeber then by rights there should be plenty to chose from in 3 years time on the preloved market. Which is good for me.

  13. The current number plate system is so complicated, most people don't know (or care) what a 13, 63, or 14 signifies anyway.

  14. How sad do you have to be to require the latest plate on your vehicle?

I hope people who think like this spend long hours admiring it for 6 months, because after that, it's going to be "the old plate".

    Oh dear.

Whereas, a set of Termis will be a joy for the life of the bike. Still, each to his own.

  15. Well said! Free Termi's and bang a private plate on the bike for a couple of hundred quid and no one will know how old it is if youre that bothered.

  16. Put a private plate on the toy two weeks after I picked it up, do the same with cars and always debadge them, especially hate badges on cars
If it's got grunt the cosmetic changes on higher end marquees are normally enough for the discerning to know what it is.
Have a real hate for wanabees with m,amg badges on a stock car. Mine have always come off and gone in the bin.

  17. newer number plates mean a big different in price on a trade in….or should i say slightly more than the shoite trade in price for an older reg

  18. I know plenty from the 848 challenge who would run rings round you Andy on your big 748! They know the little bike is a GREAT package and can be made better by the addition of Ohlins forks etc, and not the SHIT OEM Ohlins! Some of those who I know who ran in the cup did not clock in good times on the bigger bike? Does that not conclude that the little bike is the better option! Also some of the times were close to those in the upper class! Shocking how sometimes power is counter productive. Don't ride a 899 mate as it will make your project feel sluggish and slow ;) hahahahahahahaha

  19. but now you are in to rider versus machine…and road versus track….and riding with balls out versus safety as the overriding factor ….and you know nothing about me….plus a little bollox at the end:wink:

  20. Oh but I do, ;)
