Cheers Peo, I was in the same boat - wanted something to build for a good while, and then the opportunity came along to buy a bike in bits. Sorted. I had (and still do have) doubts about my skill and ability but with every little piece I learn something new, and the build edges ever closer to completion. Can't wait until it's finished and I'm on to the next one!! :biggrin:

Thanks - for something so simple ive found it hard finding out what ive got and what i need. It seems the the bolt and nut is for the front and the threaded bolt for the rear. Just need to find the front bolt and nit now and i will have a rolling chasis. Defo taking some tips of you
Just got the cylinder heads and barrels back from getting a blasting today. They're going to get a blast with compressed air and a thorough wipe down with alcohol wipes then prep'd for painting. Good progress made today after being away for a while. Horizontal cylinder head - bearings, valve seal and oil seal replaced. Valves ground/lapped. Head taped up ready for painting. Vertical head - rockers, bearings, oil seal and cam shaft removed (in a slightly odd way - everything came out in one when I attempted to chap the cam shaft out!). Got both heads, both barrells and all the inspection covers painted with VHT paint and baked them in the oven, came out well. Got the clutch casing cleaned up and taped ready for painting as well. Also, on a non build related note - Yesterday when out for a blast on my GSXR a friend of a friend turned up on a '96 monster 900. As soon as I heard it I couldn't help grinning (it had Termi exhausts), and knowing I'm in the process of a build using the same engine he offered me a blast, so with that, I was straddling a Ducati for the first time! I was quite apprehensive of feeling what the engine was like, worried I might be let down in some kind of way, and as I was burbling out of the 30 zone in a little town (Grantown) about to hit the '60' limit back roads I was actually nervous!! Haha! I'm not used to the riser bar set up, but I was surprised at how 'natural' the position felt. So, as I passed the 60 sign I wrenched her open and the explosive roar that followed had me grinning from ear to ear! I absolutely loved the delivery and the engine braking (and sound) was superb and I actually quite liked the aggressive 'hooligan' type position around the twisties. After a few miles I didn't want to stop!! In short, I f-ing loved it and can't wait to have mine built!!
Got the vertical barrell and cylinder head on and torqued up last night. Hoping to get the horizontal side done tonight. Need to source the stationary tensioners, clutch basket and plates and that should be the engine done! (In the bottom photo the engine is not tight/torqued, hence the angles)
