  1. Yausa are good batteries, but when I went to Odessey, it was like night and day. Im looking at getting another for my current build. They are fantastic and have far more power than a standard batt.

  2. TBH the Hz method is a lot quicker and easier.

  3. What are the advantages of different batteries?
I don’t tend to use the bike regularly ( though hoping to have more chance to this year) and just put an optimate on it occasionally

  4. Out of interest at the moment, how easy is it to lighten the feel of the clutch lever ?

  5. Fit an Omega slave cylinder and/or remove two opposing clutch springs.

  6. Probably - but I can't get my desktop PC into the workshop and I don't use a smart phone (yet); but my very basic guitar tuner is just that - basic. Besides, I wouldn't know whether to set it for Guitar, Bass or Ukulele ;)

  7. Ha Ha. Yes, smartphones make it much easier. If you have guitar tuner set it to chromatic and read the frequency straight off, or set it to Bass and tune for an open A string.

  8. Ime, Gates CarbonTune seems to find the frequency a lot more easily than a guitar tuning app.
Presumably because the guitar app is optimised for a nice clean note and the belt app is optimised for the kind of dull thunk you get from a belt

  9. I’ll bet several of your friends and family have discarded smartphones lying in drawers that will do this job perfectly well.
The phone doesn’t need a SIM card in it, it does need to be connected to the internet by WiFi or cable to your pc though in order to download the app.

  10. I’m going to end asking lots of probably silly questions the more I look round the bike.

At the moment though priority is a service and belts plus a battery.

The clutch can probably wait till I’ve ridden more to see how I feel about it.

    One more for now

The previous owner has dropped the forks so they now are about 5mm above the top yoke, can’t remember why he said he’d done it, put will put it back to standard. Unless someone can tell me why it would be better to leave it like that ?

  11. He has probably done it to quicken the steering.
The clip ons on the SSie models are fitted to the fork tubes above the yokes with a few mm showing above them, The standard setting is 296mm measured from the top of the bottom yoke to the top of the fork tube.

  12. Perfect thank you.

  13. A half-mile long cable eh?

    Wi-Fi? Out here? :joy:

  14. Does the OP mean the clip-ons are below the top yoke at the moment? Because if so, that 5mm of fork top above the top yoke would mean it was like a blind and lame pig to ride.

  15. The WiFi or cable is only necessary to download the app and you can do that anywhere that’s convenient, such as the local pub.
You can also download a guitar tuning app that will be much better than guitar tuning module you are using now

  16. No - clip-ons are above the top yoke.
My post should have said 5mm of fork above the clip-ons.

  17. In which case Derek is right and the previous owner has probably tried to quicken the steering a bit.

  18. Don't need it now anyway - the only belts I have are the final drive one on my bike and the ones holding my jeans up.

  19. He did tell me at the time, but I can’t remember what he said.
It had a cut down seat on it too - I thought he said he was trying to make it more comfortable for touring, which didn’t make sense to me.

  20. Ah yes, you went to the Dark Side...
