Yes, forks is another discussion. I figure I can live with them for the time being, as it is the shock which I think lets it down more. Once I sort that however, the forks may come more into focus. I did have MCT rebuild the shock as part of the refurb, and was happy with their service and pricing, though ultimately I guess the shock itself is the limiting factor.
Yes maybe. I was only going off what the fella told me, though, yes, I do find it hard to believe it's possible to spend that amount on a shock alone. FWIW, it was this:
Thanks for all your help and replies. Plenty to think about. It sounds like the YSS is good value for money, though maybe limited. Lots of votes for the Nitron R1, which I will definitely be looking at. Also Shock Factory worth a look. Maxtn sounds quite top end and expensive, but I will see what pricing I ca get from them. And yes, once the shock is sorted, I need to start thinking about the forks... Cheers all. James
Hi everyone. Eeerrrmmmm I think that's mine. Rear shock I mean + forks, I think we paid total £2k & a bit I always wanted Manxton after years of hearing and reading about them, and as they are at Chester, a couple of hours away, or 15 minutes from Oulton pk, All I can say is the difference when hoooooning around Cadwell was simply stunning. If the bike is a keeper, get it done right. I'll be at the CBTD weekend at Cadwell in September, easy to spot,
Ah, hello again! We chatted to you and admired your bike - well your shock. Thanks for the clarification on pricing - including work on the forks that makes more sense! Well, the bike is definitely a keeper, but I'm not sure the budget will stretch quiiiite that far, but we'll see. Nitron R1 currently leading the pack in terms of options. If only they did it with a yellow spring eh? Oh well, I suppose Nitron Blue or Maxton Purple does add a bit of bling factor for those that are in the know... See you around! Cheers
These are the latest modifications after a low side at the gooseneck Cadwell, not suspension, cold tyres
IMO, tyre warmers and a generator are not an expensive luxury on trackdays, they are cheap insurance, and let you get the most out of each session.
