  4. I had a 997 for a while which gave no end of trouble. The specialist, who is a pal of mine now, said that the replacement parts feel cheap and flimsy, and half come from China.
I sold it when I got fed up, and I'm going white horse as he says they are much better built and more reliable if I go again.
To be honest, my punting about in car is a 1980 300 se merc, and I love it far more than I did the porsche

  5. Here's mine. Had it 4 years now and can't think of anything nearly as good for the money. Not a thing gone wrong with it, totally reliable so far. 600hp monster or pootling pussy cat. Does everything in between. Looks cool as and holds its dough. How could I sell it? And what would be better for the money??

  6. Dream car. Shame that now HMRC want to rape all us hard working contractors I’ll never afford one.

Mine was bought with the intention of keeping 5 yrs, doing a few thousand a year then selling at profit.
Now the intention is to build a garage (more than the car cost) for it to live in, have the small jobs it need done, use for maybe 1000 miles pa and be my retirement daily.

  7. Yep, my dream car too. Things lined up so I thought I'd have one for two years then sell. Itch scratched..... But prices held reasonably firm so I'll probably hang on to it now. I try to keep the mileage reasonably low, but if I'm home on a sunny day I can't help myself. It's such an exciting, fun car for a countryside hoon. If the market takes off again (and it's a big if) I'll sell for the pension pot. That's the idea at the moment anyhow. We'll see :):upyeah:

  11. I use to look after a lot of Porsches ... the air cooled ones is were the money is atm and prices are rising. The mileage is nothing "just run in" id say he about right on the price ... the best thing is to get a good independent specialist to look over it and go from there ... if any problems are found offer accordingly but id have it if anything checked out ok.

  13. BTW- I am at film festival in Poland at the moment. Tarantino is in town getting award, so might get to meet the fucker tonight. Dany de Vito and ed Norton also here,
cars are shit thou. and not seen single bike since I been here

  14. Regret not buying one of these a few years ago. Was going for £38k albeit with about 70,000 miles on the clock. Low mileage example is around £120k or more now. Absolute beast of a car. But the widow maker tag was well justified if you weren’t careful with cold tyres.

  20. I was thinking about buying a 996TT a few years back, until someone took me out in their modified one. Although there were big numbers on the speedo, it felt detached from the road. I'd rather have an 90's turbo that feels as fast as it's travelling.
