I'd check it starts and run it but don't ride it, get it up to temperature and check the fan is running and switching on. After that a full service and then give it a good road test to see if there are any problems showing and rectify them if you need to.
Yeah getting it started first is what I'm thinking, then I'll get a garage to check it over and do the belts and brakes etc... before I ride it anywhere! I'll let you know if it starts (once I've managed to change the bl00dy spark plugs!!) Cheers
