Tough to say, as still not all original. Prices seem to vary from 10k for good bike, higher miles and maybe few non std bits to 14k fit very good later Jnr with ohlins (ignoring the chancers asking 20k) If I could spare 8k I’d be making an offe as is.
I'm sure the right buyer will come along and take it off your hands at your price. Personally, it would have been in my garage already at that price but unfortunately I'm a little too far away. Fact! I think the plaque will have very little influence on the price. If if doesn't look 100% identical it could deter some buyers as it looks like your hiding something. You may be throwing away money there. The exhaust also does not seems correct for that model. If my memory serves me correct the SPS did not have the square shape exhaust protector. Is it a full 50mm from header to cannister?
I think you getting more tyre kickers than serious buyers. The plaque is just for 'dick swinging' rights. The main differences between and the standard 996 and SPS is the motor and frame number(you have), rear shock(you have), exhaust cannisters and some cosmetics(you maybe need).
You can't legislate for the dicks and time wasters out there. I thought about selling my 916 sps it's totally correct and.standard just as I came from Ducati all the paperwork is correct and everything talies . Had a few wasters view the bike and try to pick flies out of the bike then making idiotic offers Decided not to sell it and haven't sold a bike since can't be doing with time wasters
Hey guys, thank you all for your help on this. I have decided to restore the bike to standard. A number of you have voiced interest in this bike via mail. I just wanted to give you a last chance to buy at this price. If not sold by tomorrow it will be off the market until restored. Many thanks
Your man memory should have forgotten that grief now, get your wallet out, alternatively hiding behind the sofa might work, that’s what I’m banking on
I took my 916 sps out for a run Sunday stopped at Jack Hills Cafe for a cuppa 2 knob heads.came looking round the bike it was quite interesting sitting there listening to them pick flies out of the bike and questioning it's originality according to these experts the bike had been rebuilt and had probably been in a accident They were surprised when I told them the bike was 100% correct i had from new and they didn't know what they were talking about There's too many self appointed experts around
@Anje was looking for an SPS. I went to look at @Bad-Yeti 's bike the other week (just around the corner from my work). As I previously owned an SPS-bitsa/fake, I knew exactly what features to look for on this bike to visually confirm if it was an SPS. As far as I was concerned, it definitely had all the items on it that confirmed it to be an SPS...P8 ecu, sand cast cases, "plain" rocker cover (No "4V DOHC" casting), two crank pick-ups etc. IMHO, a good buy to either ride or put back to standard.
Dunno..I was mainly curious to see what it was like and why it had generated such abuse for the OP. And...it was just around the corner from work.
