  3. Thankyou for encouragement.

Will post up pics of tailend when stickers on.

  4. Got these tyres at Stafford last year and bought the Abba kit a while ago, got sick of my local main dealer (not Ducati!) fitting the tyres badly causing leaks. I had to return three within the space of 6 months! So from now on will do it myself.

  5. You're lucky to have ready made panels for the seat unit. Mine had to be designed and painted on. And then the tape painted. And then the unit was painted again to get a level finish before lacquering.

  6. Wheres my gasket?! Look at oil plugs on crank, think someones been in here before....

  7. were they pitted before you sent them? just trying to decide if i should send mine

  8. As I was getting them done they found a nick in the plating right where the lip of the seal was. This over time would damage the seal. I had already committed to getting the internals done and so thought I would just get them replated to save having to do that soon and another strip down and rebuild. They outsource it to another company as these a fair amount of toxicity produced from the process and few people do it. It cost about another £200 on top. I shouldnt have to worry about them now though and remember, these forks are 23 years old....so I think its worth the investment as my bikes a keeper.

  9. I bought a set of 93 forks from a runner as it was the cheaper option than a full rebuild/resurface on the originals. However, the colour is not quite the same, who knows what condition the internals are, and I know the date stamp is not '91'! I'll probably send the originals off and get them refurbished later on but i need to get it built for riding this year.

  10. There are several options, you could just change the oil, as Ive done before. However I now have confidence they are sorted, its cost me a lot :(

  11. Ok, figured I would start a seperate thread for the engine rebuild. This is one of the cases, I was cleaning them today. Nearly ready to start....

  12. The original cases have an oil pressure release on the inner wall, the ST2 cases I have, which I am using, just have an untapped hole. I have ordered a later oil pump which is meant to be better anyway. This will have the pressure release on it so I will have to tap and block the hole on the case.

  15. You may need to do some engineering work to fit a later pump? I used a DS1000 pump on my Monster as it has a greater flow and aside from the gearing being wrong (you can fit the old gear to the new pump), the oil intake port is significantly bigger - so much bigger that it won't seal to the port in the crankcase. I had to machine a bush to fit into the pump inlet to allow it to fit to the oil port and the sealing 'O' ring to not fall into the pump.

Both of these mods will reduce the pump output somewhat, so I'm not sure exactly how much extra flow it does give?...

  16. Ok I will look out for that, its off an ST so its old too and just has the oil relief on it so not much difference I hope
