You can buy a banjo fitting with the brake sender incorporated into it. If you need details give Craig a ring at Moto Rapido (01962877998 option 1) tomorrow - Thursday is his day off. Andy
I started with the basic 40mm jobbies, so for me it was actually cheaper to find / fit 848 forks and calipers.
lol well sorry we were not amore decisive and helpful lot but you essential have 3 options 1: Just upgrade the master cylinder This will probably be the cheapest option and will improve the stopping power and give better feedback from the lever prob pick one up from a 749/999/1098 for later aprillia mille/ktm superduke for about 100 quid should bolt straight on 2: Upgrade the callipers to 4 pads and get new lines this will definitely give you better brakes (my 998s uses the 4 pad callipers with the same non-radial (Axial?) master cylinder and the brakes are very good) not too tricky a job and parts are easy to come by, but not all that cheap. and remember pads are £70-80 quid a set. Brembo OEM pads are even pricier. if you hunt, lots of Aprillias Mille/Tuono and KTMs Superdukes use these callipers too (and in gold as well as silver of you prefer it to look like the old callipers). you can often find them cheaper than Ducati 2nd hand ones if money is no object then Upgrade both 4 pad callipers and brembo RCS radial master and new lines = proper brakes= but lighter wallet 3:upgrade the whole front end probably an expensive ballache for not much gain unless you want to go and install monoblock callipers (which is overkill imho)
Pads aren't that expensive - see here: BENDIX 262-MF 749 R 2006 06 HIGH PERFORMANCE SINTERED FRONT CALIPER BRAKE PADS | eBay RX
cheers for all the advice guys, think i will try radial master cyclinder route, sintered pads and a visit to mr R, will let you know how i get on, ta kev
Overkill... Here's what I did, some may suggest it is overkill; 916 has 1198 Ohlins forks with Brembo HP calipers and the Monster has 916 forks with radial mounts and Brembo M4 monoblocs, both have Brembo radial master cylinders. I have to say neither are wanting in the stopping department...
May I respectfully suggest before shelling out loadsa money, that it is really worthwhile giving the calipers and pistons a thorough cleaning, possibly also replacing the seals too, costs very little and might change your mind about shelling out.i promise you won't be disappointed .
Yes although still 'optimising'. Fitted new fork springs this week as it was too hard at the front but it's running very well. Pulls very hard from low revs, power delivery is about as subtle as a punch in the face...
