Not yet very busy with work, might go next week. To be honest don't even know how a good engine should sound... The seller was "trashing" the UK bikes :tearsofjoy: dodgy frame numbers, all been raced penmouth: Japanese bikes are the best...well I seen some bad Japanese bikes and very few good ones. Doesn't mean there aren't good ones out there. I also heard a lot of them are clocked? Something to do with increased taxes above certain mileage?
Difficult one to answer, depends on the bike. I would guess £9k is a realistic price for a good one? I am completely ware these are not 0 mile bikes....
I could muster more But I am really after a 998S not 996SPS. Sorry it sounds stupid..but I somehow like the 998S more.
Most imports, if not all will be impossible to quantify regarding history, stick to a U.K. bike with definite history if at all possible.
In my humble opinion. 60% how the bike feels/looks/engine noise...I do not mind if been used for track days(not club racing) at the end of the day is meant to be used there. 20% service history -this means only one thing the bike been serviced...not that it was properly warmed up and so on. Although most of the riders that service at the specified intervals are "reasonable people". 20% - the seller's knowledge of the bike (not a great chance to find a one owner 998S) Seen bikes with 5000-8000 miles with full dealer history + idiot owner resulting in new crank + other items. I have to be patient sooner or later one might turn up
Still looking for a 998S. If anyone knows one for sale please PM me. Abroad now enjoying some enduro fun on my KTM in Romania
First let me thank you all for your advises and general help. Happy days..managed to put down the deposit for a 04' 998S Final Edition..should collect Friday. Pictures to follow. 2 owners, second owner since 2012 done 160 miles since then total miles 4200. Full service history belts replaced in 2015 at Ducati main dealer. Mint conditions apart from tiny rubbish on the paint(2 -3 spots) before was lacquered, all genuine paint and fairings..I guess Luigi had a bad day at the factory. Is this more and less normal?
This one? Ducati 998s Final Edition. SOLD (2004) on Car And Classic UK [C841957] You should probably change the belts before riding it.
Yes, that one. I believe the newer type kevlar reinforced belts should be good for another year and 300 miles. Bike done 0 miles since the belts have been replaced in 2015. Any opinions on the above? I will obviously replace all fluids (oil, clutch, brake, coolant) filters(air, oil) and spark plugs. Valve gap clearances done in 2015..so I guess they should be fine.
If you search around on here there is a forum member selling really good timing belts, but I warn you now; he has terrible colour taste in bikes (Yellow). I did warn you.
