The stock 998 biposto subframe is the same as a 996 it even has the mountings for the 996 ECU despite the 998 ECU being mounted by the battery, a 748 R\SPS subframe would definitely fit in exactly the same way and a 748R chassis is the same as a 998 frame apart from where the coil brackets are mounted on the frame. If follows that a 748R\SPS carbon undertray would have the correct attachment points but you would have to cut it down to fit a biposto subframe. I have never come across any subframe that attaches on the outside of the mounts, it doesn't sound like a Ducati item.
Just seen this on ebay this is same as mine 916 mono posto subframe see the lugs sticking out at the front, the tray i bought the material is cut away as it was meant for biposto
I can confirm that's the way the subframe should fit and that's what I had in my mind, no doubt the subframe shown was from a P8 ECU'd bike originally and equally the carbon undertray should fit as well regardless of whether it is monoposto or not as far as mounting holes go, it's only that shape of the undertray that's different.
Yes my subframe is the same as efcbluepete above, just to clarify there is no problem with the subframe fitting the main frame The problem is the undertray that was sent out to me is wrong one it is meant for a Biposto which have its fixing points for the undertray in a different place to the monoposto, so although you can make a monposto undertray fit a biposto subframe by removing carbon an drilling new holes you can not fit a biposto undertray fit to a monoposto sub frame without adding brackets as they remove an area of the undertray to clear rear footpegs and this area is where the front mounts are on the monoposto subframe In on the Biposto Out on the Monoposto So when I get sent what I asked for and what they say is different all should be good, if not I will butcher something.....or someone
OK got it now, yes you are right, although my mono undertray had the same mounting points as a biposto, I just had to trim a few bits off, so it looks like you have a messed up undertray. Maybe they took the mould of something different.
I get what you are saying, too. I have the full Bip setup in the garage, so didn't have to butcher anything, just swap them out (pissing about with the alarm is the most annoying bit). good luck getting the proper under tray.
Biposto subframe Note front undertray fixing go inwards as example below It sort of shows how ducati must develop the bike as a race/single seated bike and then make changes to turn it into road bike There no other reason to have these lugs in different places other than they was moved when they realised that was where foot pegs would need to be
Red i don't think you have got it, the undertray I have is perfect for a biposto everything all holes and cutouts perfect for biposto, the only thing that was messed up is they should have sent me a monoposto one these have different mounting points In fairness to me making the mistake ordering it there advert said it fit all models 748,916,996 & 998 which is not correct, it didnt mention that there was any difference between biposto and monoposto or the fact that they do two different versions, so i'm probably not only person to get caught out here Need to clarify this as I don't want people thinking carbon moto undertrays are made wrong
Hmmm this has me wondering that all those years ago I got the undertray sent to me, which was meant to be a monoposto one and I wanted to fit it to a biposto all I had to do was trim the outside to get around the rear footrest mountings. The mounting holes for the undertray to the biposto subframe were identical, strange!!! That's what's thrown me all along.
Cranker what about the carbon airtubes talk to me You not got a 998 loom too have ya Why you not need all this stuff, you got a new toy
998 loom are rare..............and expensive. Due to the standard location of the ecu sticking out beyond the battery it scrapes away the loom when you drop the bike on the off side...........as well as other things.... Why not use a 999 loom........
Would a 999 loom fit, thats interesting idea, probably more about hmm scratching head moment Well just made a jig up to get the cruical dimension from the ducati light housing You can see just how bad the fairing bracket is, the jig is ruff but picks up all important holes, I like the idea of using dzus fasteners so i will straighten it all out and make the altereations Very poor quality assurance by whoever made the fairing bracket, its just been welded and distorted all over the place or someone very fat has sat on it Anyway another day tomorrow ill see if i can get it sorted then Be interested in what you know about using the 999 loom how different is it
