I think the only way to know for sure is to approach Ducati directly (factory not agent). As I said I gave up trying to figure mine out years ago. The very occasional times I ride it on the road (last time would be maybe 2017) I just pin on a number plate from one of my other bikes!
Guess I’ll have to wait for the end of Covid19 to check with the factory. Thanks to all that contributed to my query.
Picking up on this and other contributors (I did scan though so apologies if I've missed anything), contact Ducati Uk and ask for a European Certificate of Conformity for this bike, you should be able to import it simply after this. I've imported from Jersey (outside of the EU) and used this and the tax paperwork and did it fine.
