Absolutely bonkers sure some nut jobs drop 20k on them GS thingys i know which will never leave my garage
The going rate for a 998S about 4 years ago was between £8K to £9K for something decent so they don’t seem to have increased that much in value. Still a cracking bike.
I paid £8k for beautiful 998S in June this year via eBay. It had 20k on the clock, but had a full history, was known to my local specialists, included some worthwhile extras (carbon airbox, slipper clutch, single seat etc.) with the original bits, and the chap selling was a true gent. It's a risk buying on eBay, but I viewed the bike first and am absolutely delighted with it. I wanted a bike to use regularly (I have a couple of Ducati garage queens), so it ticked every box for me. Lower mileage will definitely help the value (I had been kicking myself for not buying a low mileage one (3k) in 2017 that could have been bought for £10k from a local dealer. In my slightly biased opinion, the 998S is a hidden gem - not sold in many markets, a 996R motor with sandcast cases, carbon belly pan, 4 pad brake calipers, ohlins steering damper. It doesn't have the Ohlins forks which of course look good, but I'm quite impressed with the Showas.
