I notice you have DP air tubes. I have these fitted to my old crate and removed the air filter runners from each tube and now run JHP under tank filters.
Looks like you got a decent bike there mate. Some cool upgrades too. That MS Production carbon fiber is top notch
So got out a ride on the bike yesterday. The first time I stopped I noticed hissing. The coolant tank has a split in it. I have a spare from my track bike so will need to get it swapped over. The one thing that stood out on the bike was how worn the clutch basket is. So I'm going to have to get that swapped out to. My issue is I'm not sure whether to go for a standard clutch pack and basket or change to a slipper clutch while I'm at it. I don't run a slipper clutch on my 748 track bike and never had issues with the rear when downshifting. Just thought I'd ask to see what other peoples opinions and experiences on what to go for?
The split in the header tank is normal and will happen again with a new one within a short time. A few people have opted for an aluminium replacement which solves the problem for good.
I put an STM 48T slipper in mine. Also changed the master cylinder and fitted an STM clutch slave. The gear changes were silky smooth but changing the gear shift to race shift made an even bigger difference. Highly recommended.
Will have a look into an STM slipper. I just got rid of my Audi S2 money pit at the weekend. So I do mind spending a bit if It will make the bike ride better. What master cylinder did you go for?
This one. Don’t know the exact model number just that it’s a 16 and off an RS race bike. I fitted a similar brake master at the same time. I got it cheap as the span adjuster had broken off. Bought a repair kit for a few quid and now sorted. There are loads of cool parts around to help improve the bike but bide your time in buying them. The trick is to wait for the really good stuff to come up for sale and try to hold out for bargain priced stuff. It does happen. Ian
I made an aluminium tank for the 748 track bike. I could either swap it on to the 998 or use the plastic one i took off. I actually like the look of the carbon tank you can get!
Do it mate! Carbon ones probably work just as well. But the good thing about an alloy tank is that if it doesn’t leak to begin with, it never will.
Looks fancy! I'm in no rush to get parts. So i will get looking. The bike is still rideable as it sits once the coolant tank is changed!
