The Desmodue with an open airbox is as much about induction noise as exhaust and the two blend together to give that almighty bellow. However, i could never describe my 999 Testastretta as howling. The air runners are so effective at suppressing induction noise that all you seem to hear is the exhaust, maybe it's different with other Testastretta engined bikes. The straight through pipes on my bike give a staccato sound with each pulse being audible - they never seem to blend together. It's not easy to describe but the best way I can think of is to say it sounds rather like a machine gun but a machine gun with a variable rate of fire...
Could be a combination of: 999 having more displacement Exhaust I'm only a little 749 and have a Mivv X-cone jobbie with ice-cream cones for outlets so this might be the reason? Anyway, whatever we decide the noise is, it's ace!
