999 999 Reliability Checks And Things To Look Out For

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Denzil the Ducati, Oct 24, 2015.

  1. 50 quid ????

  2. Problem with the 68 quid is that it will be another 68 quid by the time you pay the postage and import duty . I never seem to get away with it and pay way over .

  3. Actually, it works out at 66 quid delivered to your door including all taxes and shipping.

We don't pay import duty from Italy.

  4. belated (- apologies) thanks for the thoughts. Ive got and used a Motobatt on my TT600 which has been good( albeit i had to get it replaced when a reg rec cooked it) which is why i went for the same make on my 916. its done a decent job so far in starting my 916- just a question of how long and robustly it does that. I do know what you mean about the size of the posts though.i didn't know Yuasa did AGM batteries.

Perhaps we should make diary note to check back in 7 years to see whose still on their battery - the definitive test!

  8. That will be 18V in series so not good for our bikes

  9. I'm looking into to see if i can modify a 1098/1198 battery box assembly (around $50 on ebay for a good one) to fit my 999S. Ducati realised the poor design features and the ECU, relays & wiring connectors are mostly shielded from the elements and heat of the engine on the new style. I already have new conformable self-adhesive heat shielding overlay and the 1098/1198 battery box is being ordered this week.

  10. I
I wonder if it will be any easier to fit a starting circuit kit into.
The 999 one is a right pita...

  11. I wonder if @Exige knows if the 1098 style box makes for easier fitting?

  12. Seriously guys, I like the setup of the late model battery box, so the eBay battery box will be a template and then perhaps a carbon fiber final product. Time will tell :)

  13. I didn't realise that there was such a thing available.? Do you have a link or I can just Google it. Thanks.

Edit: just to be clear, I'm assuming you mean something different to a starter cable upgrade kit?

  14. I m
I mean the sort of kit supplied by @Exige which comprises 3 cables, negative to earth, positive to solenoid and solenoid to starter.
Exiges kit wasn't available when I fitted mine, so I had to get the really fat cables of the American kit to fit into and through the battery box assembly.
I believe it's a lot easier with Exige's more slimline cables but the 999 is still the most difficult Ducati to fit a kit to, so the 1098 box could be good news from that point of view as well.

  15. Ah okay, understood and the reason I haven't bought a kit, that the 1098/1198 battery box will require that version starter kit

  16. Fairy muff...

  17. After some winter fettling here are the promised photos, £3,900 gets something this nice and only 6,700 miles.

The prices these bikes are put up on ebay for makes me laugh

Mot for both bikes in the next couple of weeks. just need to get the full map by Chris at Louigi Moto and it will be pretty much there
