Placebo in Copenhagen 3 or 4 years ago. Dire sound quality only surpassed by an even more dire performance. Singer/guitarist Brian Molko was off his face. Absolutely shite.
Pink Floyd at Château de Chantilly, they may have been better than I remember, however I was so mashed, I recall desperately clutching at the grass in an attempt not to take off....
Went to see Blue Oyster Cult in a Fort Lauderdale park around 20 years ago. They played "Don't Fear the Reaper" but nothing else I'd heard of. Highlight was watching people get tattooed and pierced outside on a sunny sunday afternoon - possibly after a few sherberts....
I saw them at Monsters of Rock at Donnington same year as AC/DC, just before they came onstage they had a big barney with their drummer, so literally got another drummer backstage and it was utter shite.
I saw them in Sophia Gardens Pavilion about forty years ago. They played most of Agents of Fortune, but not Vera Gemini: that wouldn’t have been the same without Patti Smith anyhow. I think Don’t Fear the Reaper was in the charts at the time. It was one of the best concerts I’ve been to, though wasn’t hugely impressed by the support band: some metal band called Saxon who also had a chart single about a 747 Plane crash? Not the same as Sinatra’s Strangers in the Night!
Pogues 90s Perth. Unsurprisingly I suppose but thought at least one song might be played through. Band were pissed off, Macgowan was assisted on and off stage pretty pointlessly. Still love their music but watching someone in that state was verging on distressing.
Ah yes, the Pogues - went to see them in Norwich in the early '00's, Shane didn't turn up (was apparently still in a bar in London) they tried to make a show of it and got a girl up to sing - she didn't know any Pogues songs not surprising but still disappointing
Kraftwerk at Royal Albert Hall a couple of years ago - the music was fantastic but there was no atmosphere at all. Could have just sat at home and heard the same music. Not surprising really as they don’t do audience interaction and pride themselves in being, errr, robotic.
I seen what was left of Yes, I think at the time everyone was calling them the Yuggles never been so bored.
Remembered another one. Was with DAF at Eindhoven plant, mid 90s. Black tie, ball gowns. Philips theatre. The band were Focus. Utter shite. Me, my wife, my mate and his left after 15 minutes (probably the same song/number), avoided the corporate buffet and had a dirty Chinese instead. We both got a bollicking next day for skipping the gig from the directors. Disrespectful see.
I know they've got a lot of fans, and I'd gone with an open mind but Rush at Sheffield Arena on Roll the Bones tour were pretty dull. My mates loved it (Rush fans) I was unconvinced
Ok this is painful...I admit my wife made me accompany her to Take That at Wembley stadium.... and the worst is I survived, in fact Robbie had a solo 30 mins in the middle and he really is incredible. Will I be allowed to retain my forum membership????
Hocus Pocus by Focus is the only track I recall from them, think it was a minor hit with yodelling early 70's, strange band
Sacra Blu saw them at Birmingham Odean brilliant show, think it was Bomber tour. They lowered a mock up of a Bomber at the start of the show. Loudest band I've ever seen is Reef I sure my hearing hasn't forgiven me for that gig lol.
My first wife was raised by her grandparents who had cliff on the record player often, I suspect this was the cause for her early affliction. 89 I think it was and he was playing not at wembley arena but effin wembley stadium so we travelled across London using various tubes Trouble was she is Scottish, had heard of the prices for food and drinks and made me not only listen to cliff Richard for 2 hours, but carry an effin cool box full of snacks and drinks across London to avoid paying stadium prices. Tins of Irn Bru, Tunnocks marshmallows and some other northern nonsense Cliff was still shite as was his miami vice pastel suits
