  4. Guns n Roses in LA.

Acoustics were crap and the band was crap, the evening was crap. Other than that it was good. Can’t think why Me and the Mrs left early.

  5. Oh yeah, while I'm here. Faith No More, seen em opening for Guns N Roses somewhere. I've no idea of the attraction or why they sold so many albums.
Also no idea why we went to see them on their own headline tour.......
Sounded like a load of mates learning instruments who had just got together in someone's garage

  8. Bastard! I now have that as an ear worm which I am unlikely to shake out for the rest of the day. Also, why can I remember most of the lyrics to a song I last heard when I was about 9 yet I can't remember where I have put the big box of bungees I bought last week? :triumph:

  9. Loudest gig i've been too was Hawkwind 1984 southampton top rank, ears ringing for the rest of my life, didn't put me off, seen them ten times!!:upyeah::)

  10. U2 at the (now) Man City ground. Paid a fortune to watch them from miles away and they never even played "Lemon"!

  11. Metallica... after they'd sold out :(

  12. Jamiroquai at the Roundhouse in late 2016. Shit. The lady wife had been really looking forward to it. He played a lot of dull stuff from a new album and spent a lot of time gyrating around for the front row acolytes/sycophants. We left after about 30mins. Did quite like his LED hat/thing though.

Pixies at Ali Pali last September. I've seen them at places like the roundhouse and brixton academy before and really enjoyed it, but Ali Pali is a shit place to go for a gig if you're less than 6'3" tall. They'd clearly gone for that venue as it packed in about three times as many as places like the roundhouse, but that meant they were tucked away in a corner and being a short arse I couldn't bloody see them and had to spend all night tripping-up the lanky rude fuckers who thought it was ok to push in front of me (beer everywhere). Pixies also insisted on playing lots from their new album, which is by far the worst work they've ever done. Gutted.

  13. I went to see them in Nottingham. They turned up on stage an hour and a half late and I left half an hour later. Crap!

  14. That was all I needed to read tbh as every time I see that bloke I have an almost irresistible urge to punch him in the throat

  15. GnR Milton Keynes Bowl, free tickets but utter crap as a live band.

Radiohead were not very good either and I waited a long time to watch them.

The most surprisingly good performer was Johnny Cash think 1995 Glastonbury, I thought when he came on I barely knew a track he'd done. He put on a brilliant set and turned out I'd heard loads of his songs from the radio growing up.

  16. Had back stage passes to their NEC Birmingham Master of Puppets tour as a mates mate was in the supporting band 'Danzig'. We watched the support and when his mate met up with us he said we could either watch Metallica in the VIP section or he'd go home with us and have beer......beer won.:)

  17. Several...
Smashing Pumpkins - supporting the Stones in Miami. as one of the locals there said "shitty, shitty band!"
System of a Down - supporting Sabbath in Birmingham - emptied the arena...
Kaiser Chiefs - Supporting Green day in London - probably the most boring band in the world... ever...

But, as a main act one stands out above all others :
Van Morrison at Cornwall Coliseum - the laziest most disinterested performer ever. He quite obviously wasn't bothered and really didn't care. That's £50 I'll never get back, and a totally wasted evening...

  18. Yes Van has a reputation for that as has Morrisey.

My partner really rated SP live.

  19. I wasn't aware of VM's reputation at the time, but a lot of people have agreed since. Seems when he can be bothered he can be pretty good - but at least four times out of every five he just isn't interested.

And sorry - but the Pumpkins were truly dire... Dave Matthews band opened and were brilliant. And the Stones were amazing. At least we had time to go get a beer and some food while SP were on...

  20. Talking of a contrary VM.. I wonder if anyone on here went to the infamous Stranglers gig at Surrey University?
