  2. Thanks.

  3. ExactFit belts run at the same tension as Gates for their in-service frequency, ie 90 Hz.
The difference is that they stretch less from new, so the initial frequency is recommended to be 100 Hz rather than 110.
Not sure how that translates to 30% - must be American “math”...

Hope the problem turns out to be minor and not the mains as suggested.

  4. Thanks for that, yes I am leaning towards the main bearings now, unless something else is found along the way. If nothing found on alternator side, will pull clutch side.

  5.
  6. When the alternator cover is removed check the outer bearing in the cover for wear, if the main bearing have any movement cracks can appear around this bearing also.

  7. All looks good on left side so far including the outer bearing and water pump...

  9. So, both sides removed and nothing to see, no play or excessive end float on anything, sprag clutch is good as well, pretty sure the mains are ok, no debris, clean as a whistle, hmmmm what next I wonder........ image1.jpeg IMG_1519.JPG

  10. Are you the guy from Ducati Omaha again that's been lying about CCW products on Face Book - your facts are wrong whoever you are, funny you just appear after Chris had a go at (quite possibly) you on FB when you soon shut up. You do know Ducati source belts from the far East as from last year if you are that Ex Honda mechanic who pretends to have 30 years experience on Ducati's? :):upyeah:

  11. I see you are from Chris's and CCW's old home town - very interesting, care to give me your name?

  12. I never said, but been there, pulled the 2 bearing caps all looked good, bearings perfect and cam ends as well, think I will rebuild the bottom bit now and start again be pulling the belts and get into the belt side bearings, thanks.

  13. Exige (Stu), your replies are a bit confusing and appear to be historical content.
Exactfit belts that I bought from you, also the 4 x SKF bearings, were tensioned to the spec as indicated on the packaging 99htz, when putting the old belts back on I used the twist method. Both times the sound was the same.

  14. No, just put it back together :)
Yeh I kinda knew you were tekkingt piss earlier :) The water pump bearings are good as well. Cheers.

  15. Yeh I did that in the beginning, most of the noise was at left side middle, but also trasmitted towards the horizontal cylinder head.

  16. I am only replying to a new member from the states as we have had someone maliciously bad mouthing CCW products on FB recently and I am a little suspicious a new member crops up in this discussion with incorrect facts. He may be just some one with an OEM opinion of course which is fine!
If you want to try some more bearings I’ll send you some, did you just replace them on this service :):upyeah:

  17. Haha, have you ever tried getting one off, jesus it was tight, 1/2" drive air impact gun rattled it loose though fairly easily, need a new nut though as this one runs all the way up very easily by hand. Anybody know where to buy one?

  18. I am sure the CCW belts are good, just had to try the old ones again to eliminate stuff, the bearings only have a hundred miles or so on them, but of course they will be checked again when I get the bottom bit back together, it all keeps the old man pottering :) cheers.

  19. Let me know if any bearings are suspect and I'll post some out - not had a faulty one yet but I guess it can/could happen... :upyeah:

  20. What, wooden stake through back wheel spokes, as brake wouldn't hold it?
