About To Leave Ducati

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Bob T, Sep 16, 2020.

  1. I was seeing medics every 3 months for first 6 months, then another check up 6 months later. Annual blood test now and that’s it.

  2. Good luck with your health Bob, I hope you continue to recover well.
Also, hope the new steed proves to be lots of enjoyable smiles.. or kilometres.

  3. You should try the GS forum..........

  4. 1600682126181687211446.jpg Hi Bob, I also have 29" inside leg trouser length. I was about to opt for an R1250RS when, while I was waiting - it didn't materialise until 2 years after if was announced - Ducati revealed the V4 Panigale. Let's just say lust trumped love (common sense never had a look in anyway) and that's how I ended up buying my first Ducati.

But I had been following and test riding the R1200RS for several years. It was going to be the perfect replacement for my long loved VFR750. Although I ended up being side-tracked and keeping the VFR the RS still remains in my opinion one of the (probably "the") very best sports tourers available. It weighs about 250kg but carries that weight very low. The engine is a gem with lots of smoothe torque everywhere. The 1200 was 125hp/125Nm and this increased a bit with the 1250. And the TFT screen is a very impressive unit. Also I can highly recommend the forum. Without a doubt one of the happiest and most supportive forums I've ever come across with lots of valuable info.

There's also a good Facebook group for brief and interesting posts.

Pretty sure you're going to enjoy this bike very much. Good luck.

  5. Thanks for the info Pete T. The bike is ordered in black with all the extra packs. It has to have the quick shifter as I have been spoilt by the one on the Ducati.
Need to fly into Stansted next Monday, train to London, Park Lane, to collect it, try to find my way out of London and head for a ferry back to France. Not looking forward to the ride out of London bit. Got to buy from Park Lane to get it tax free so that I can pay the tax here instead.
The one that I test rode was fabulous.

  6. Wish you well, these things take time.

  7. Interesting, how does that work quarantine wise then, surely you cant fly in from a country on our ‘risk list’ go on a train, go shopping then drive home to France?

  8. Test rode an RS while my Mutley was being serviced a year or two ago. LOVED it. Cracking bikes! I was surprised how punchy it was! Felt just as quick as my Multi - I think it puts out more torque lower or something. Anyway, you'll be a happy bunny on one of those I'd say.

  9. You can if you don’t get caught doing so, I guess the French side they just send you home with the correct paperwork?

  10. I thought that on entering the UK you have to complete some type of paperwork declaring where your going to isolate for the required 14 day period? I suppose “just popping over for the day to buy a tax free motorbike, then going home to France” will suffice.

  11. I have no idea, but tracking a persons movements in and out doesn’t happen would be my guess. Another rule or law unenforceable, bit like the track and trace paperwork I filled in to get a breakfast from a greasy spoon on Saturday. They can’t verify that the information is correct I put down and with the information I did put I’m now untraceable.

  12. Great choice on the rs.

A mate hired one for our European trip last year and really enjoyed it. He’s shorter in leg and found it proper comfy and capable. Unlike my mutley it didn’t need any oil whatsoever over the week.

    Good luck with the recovery!

  13. I think you have to isolate for 14 days OR until you leave the country again. So you could come here, isolate for a day, have bike delivered and leave.

  14. Or I can fly in at 10:15 hrs and leave on a ferry at 23:00 hrs. I don't really give a monkeys for stupid UK rules anymore.

  16. You are correct. Earlier in the year no one was allowed to go to their second homes. Prince Charles got covid so off he went to one of his other houses, Boris got it too, so went from Downing street to Chequers, Dominic Cummings buggered off up north.
If Boris can ignore international law then why should any of us do what we are told?

  17. If you have no respect for the people the law or the country Itself then why are you coming over here to take advantage of buying a duty free bike bike?
