140 miles each way. Here and back in a day is easy. That Ariel's frame is machined from a solid billet of aluminium. Takes eight-and-half hours!! I saw it at the show. Production starts in January. Honda 1270 V-four engine. £20,000 plus depending on spec and you can choose from more than a hundred options including the rake!
I sold my Jota for £1,800 in 1984. Thought it was a good price because if paid the same for it two years earlier. But they now go for £10,000 minimum!
Bloody hell, I thought it was only Ducati that sold over expensive bikes, but that sounds the nuts fully customisable per rider?
Don't mate, I had a 3.1 RS capri sold it for £600 it was just sitting there doing nothing so got shot of it. Wish I had kept it now
Ducati 900 SS cost around £3,000 in 1978. Mind you my Honda 900 cost £1,800 the same year so that was a fuck of a lot of money and out of the question. Think I was only earning £3,500 per year.
My worst decision was flogging a 1858 split-screen Morris Minor for £75 in 1978 to pay for the road tax, a tank of petrol and a rack for my 900FZ!
I don't even earn that! I'm retired and just do the odd bit of freelance in winter these days. Life's too short - and I love riding my bike on sunny days too much to spend them working.
I don't think the Ariel is that expensive bearing in mind only 150-200 will be made initially, so they should hold their value, and the level of customisation available. You should book a test ride too! Got to be interesting g to ride
I would have the Ace with the Ohlins telescopic forks but this is a good read: First ride: Ariel Ace review - Road Tests: First Rides - Visordown
Yeah its going to be a limited bike should appreciate in value the minute you ride it off the forecourt
Well even if you get just one, when you get to the point of not being able to ride you will still make money on it I reckon, 173hp nice not sure what my Streetfighter puts out prob 130ish
Crewkerne was my home town and I went to school close to what is now the Ariel factory on the Yeovil Road - it used to be known as Staddon's Garage in those days. Much prettier than Selly Oak ever was. I must have done that 140 miles London - Crewkerne ride hundreds of times over the past 40 years usually down the old A30. The next time I am down that way I must visit Ariel.
I'd go A303/A30. Love that route - especially since a lot of the speed cameras have disappeared from the A303.
Planning to get a Can am Spyder when two wheels are no longer an option: Image from http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/Custom Bikes/Can-Am Spyder RS Roadster 10 2.jpg.
I've just come across this thread, and I have only one question. Will the bike on page 1, be sold with a sharp stick?
