Ime the first sign of water, like heavy rain, washes it off and the salt gets in. Doesn’t like being damp either. In comparison, ACF doesn’t wash off easily and works well in damp conditions. I have used both and wouldn’t go near fs365 again
Anyone prefer XCP to ACF50. I’ve seen the vid comparison but what’s the view of pros and cons of each from the people who actually use them?
Went to my local AllYearBiker guy a few weeks back. He did my MV once and the Multistrada last year. Had booked for ACF50 so left the bike with him and went to cafe for some lunch. When I got back he said that he'd treated with XCP for the price of ACF50 as I'm a regular customer. Still £70 which is a bit salty... He was very complimentary about the condition of my 10,000 mile bike.
Quote "When I got back he said that he'd treated with XCP for the price of ACF50 as I'm a regular customer. Still £70 which is a bit salty..." Surely salt defeats the purpose of the ACF50? - I'd keep an eye on him if I were you....
I had it applied by AllYearBiker last year and it did a great job. Decided to buy a can and applied it myself over the weekend. Much easier to apply than ACF50 IMHO. A nice fine and even spray without the need for warming first. Wipes down nicely with a soft cloth and leaves a gloss finish on all surfaces. Felt like I had plenty left in the can for next year and beyond. Dries to a thin film which remains slightly soft. The only downside of this is it doesn't take long to look filthy again, but this does not affect the excellent protection.
I use Mucoff MO94 after a wash. Brilliant stuff, spray can application and always protects the bike during the balmy Irish weather. Plus one for never using FS365. I used it once and a week or so later the bike was destroyed with rust.
I've tended to use acf50 on my open fronted bikes, superdream, tl1000s, varadero and fugley. It can take a bit longer to apply, but not by much. I've tended to check and apply again if needed, once a month and I've seen the benefits come spring time after winter riding I don't know if it is better or worse than others because like hh ebc pads, I use them because they have always worked for me so I keep on using them.
Yeah, I had a lil dabble a couple of years ago whilst laid up and rough built a winter hack from a super dream 400 in black. It wasn't the best winter bike but I smiled every time I rode it.
It's a simple process, taking the tedious turning-by-hand out of the equation. Soak a cotton rag in gear oil, fire up the 'Dream and once on the handy centre-stand you can select a gear (whichever you prefer - the result is the same) and lay your finger of choice on the chain, safely wrapped in the oily rag. Let the machine take the strain... I'm so clever... this is easy... ARGH!!!
