Advice On Insurance Following My Bike Being Stolen

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Brian Sutherland, Sep 22, 2024.

  1. Well, that’s a bit of a cause for concern, it seems for less than €16 if I were that way inclined I could purchase a device which would block all satellite signals within 8m

  2. sadly this is due to the police/your own insurance company selling your accident/data.
When I was knocked off of my bike, slow impact so apart from a sore wrist for a couple days I had no injuries but I was still contacted out of the blue by a claims company telling me the third party was claiming for whiplash against my insurance and that I should counterclaim for a personal injury against them, I could easily get £10k for the right injury, a tactic to make you feel cheated and wanting revenge and more likely to sign up to their deception. The initial call handler/seller was trying to get me claim I’d had back/neck damage to the point of saying “when I pass you though to my personal injury manager make sure you tell him you’ve got a sore back and neck, don’t worry you won’t need a medical”
When I was transferred through I told him the actual extent of my injuries and he said “oh that’s not worth our while” to which I told him he was an ambulance chaser and please remove my data from their records!

But I know people who wouldn’t bat an eyelid at the opportunity for some morally dubious cash and would be like “where do I sign up, if I say I’ve lost a limb how much more can I get?”

  3. For reporting purposes, it's 5 years but apparently, and I queried this with my insurance company who were insuring another car of mine it is 3 years in terms of how it will load your insurance and cost an extra premium. This was with Footman James.

  5. Hello.
I've just moved from Bemoto that had increased my renewal quote significantly from last year, to Cornmarket that provided a quote less than I paid last year, with similar cover and more annual miles. They were helpful and discussed options to keep the cost down. The policy covers an older rider, two large capacity bikes, city location, full no claims, with one no fault accident in 2023.
    Hope this helps.
    Good luck.
    Tom.

  6. nice one. but think the overall message is that no one insurance company is any better - you just have to treat them all the same and ring around every year. like sometimes cheaper to have multi vehicle policy and the next year its cheaper to split them all again..........PITA but same for everything from bike insurance to broadband and energy suppliers. one of 21st century's chores
