Advice on not getting caught out or ripped off

Discussion in 'Other Bikes' started by layhervamp, Jun 27, 2012.

  1. Not sure if his rep was going to pieces over this, it was one customer complaining - happens all the time, its the internet after all. I think most people would have moved on in a day or so but the response from this vendor has attracted attention and may cause more 'damage' than good.

I've got no skin in this game of course but I'm now watching this thread!

  2. wow interesting stuff.....and yes I posetd the "am I being a difficult customer' thread which ended in a rant, started as a level headed thread!!

  3. You can't establish the rights and wrongs of this case on what has been posted. However, you can read between the lines:

The OP joined this forum on June 27th last year and hasn't been seen since July 2nd. They seemingly joined with the sole purpose of ranting about this issue. They have posted a total of 6 times and have never contributed anything elsewhere.

We don't know who they are and their credibility rating on here has surely got to be around zero. I suspect that people have been far too happy to give them the benefit of the doubt, on no evidence whatsoever apart from their "first mover advantage".

It would appear that they spend their time on forums airing their beef. Frankly, for a purchase of some 300 quid, it seems that their reaction is out of all proportion. If they have evidence, you just take the thing to the small claims court and have someone deal with it. You may get the outcome you want, you may not, but spending a disproportionate amount of time posting on YouTube and the like with the aim of ruining a company's reputation seems a little over the top.

I am far more inclined to believe the seller.

  4. well it certainly struck me the company has been tipped-off by the OP that he has bad mouthed them so they have deliberately joined only to respond for that reason alone.

was that a mistake - probably.
most people here are partisan and will probably side with a sob story.
should they have responded how they did - probably not.

I think there are maybe a few hundred thousand other businesses that arent on here but does that also mean they have no credibility because they arent on here....or if they did join for some reason they too would also be not credible because of the length of time here...

    that is fuzzy logic imho

frankly I dont errr towards one over the other because we dont have access to all info. its possible the OP is cheesed off and has embellished the facts because it hasnt turned out how he planned it...its not impossible...

its not implausible the company has guillded the lilly to come over as doing nothing wrong, but most aim to please and take pride and in my experience are generally quick to right wrongs

so maybe they are all telling the truth as they see it

ultimately this is a pitfall of doing such work not being face to face and comes down to a lack of communication by one and a lack of understanding by another

    final score 0 - 0

  5. Morning Peter. All you have to do is download the 3 photographs and then hover your mouse over the images without clicking and opening up the image, the information data automatically comes up stating the make of camera, along with the time and date the photographs were taken. All we are looking for here is to be allowed to put our side to the forum members just the same as the original poster.

  6. Seriously, could you do me a suede cover?

  7. Tomrowley, of course we could make you a suede cover, please understand that we didn't join the forum to tout for work but to try and defend ourselves. This is only one of several forums this guy has posted on. If you take a look at our facebook page under CAER URFA LEATHER you will see more of our recent work not yet displayed on our website and give us a ring or drop us an email.

  8. Will do, thanks for answering.

  9. So what happened in court?
