899 Agip Anti Freeze & Servicing

  1. Doesn’t look in the best of shape. There should be a needle bearing on the shaft that the gear runs on. In the picture it looks like it’s not there and the gear is on the piss?...
     
  2. I use coffee for nut tightening normally but maybe @nelly is a better option
     
  3. I’ll check the oil pan see if it’s fallen out when I took the cover off. Can you point me in the direction of a new cog... I’ll check the manual see what I can find out.
    Any help you can offer is much appreciated I can see I’m in a little bit of a pickle here now
     
  4. The gear will be a dealer only part. I need to check in the morning, but I think there should be a thrust washer on the shaft to... maybe stuck in the cover?
     
  5. Yep washer came off with the cover but no bearing found. I think I need to swap that cog though... bad practice taking the cover off and not replacing it. Surprising how worn it is the bike has only covered 4600 miles
     
  6. There should defo be a needle bearing on the shaft for the gear to run on. One not being there, could be a result of the cover already having been off before and not put back together properly?
     
  7. So I’m in your hands now... what do I need to sort it out so it’s right?? I dropped the bike on a round about after a month of ownership and as you can imagine absolutely gutted... but luck may have it the fairings came off not to bad but smashed the rear rim and road rashes the clutch cover. As ever I’m trying to save money learning as I go on try to piece together my precious Ducati. So any advise is much appreciated.. you’ve been a big help already but I could really do with a bit more advise ..... PLEASE !!

    not the best picture but the diagram only shows a washer to the outside of the centre sprocket - not quite found the part number for a replacement sprocket yet

  10. Haha sorry... I’ve found the parts now!! Plastic pump gear, the bush and bearing needle. I’m guessing the bearing needle is still in there behind the gear but again is it worth changing the bearing needle while it’s in pieces??
     
  11. I'd check and be 100% the bearing is there. Pull the gear off and check everything is in place.

  13. hi Nelly, yep everything's inplace. I've ordered a replacement sprocket so just a quick swap around.

    This threebond sealant - I guessing I fit the part as soon as I've added the bead?? Gonna be a nightmare not getting the sealant everywhere while feeding it in.
     
  14. Apply the sealant to the engine, not the cover. Gives you more wiggle room lining everything up and only seals once it’s in place. If you have the 1207B, which was on there as it’s black, you have about 15 minutes. The grey sealant sets much slower

  15. Thanks Nelly just awaiting the plastic gear - good point regarding the sealant I got the 1215 bond - let’s hope I get a good solid seal
     
  16. Nelly all sorted on the photo the bolt into the casing with the green mark below - any idea what you torque this upto??

    just waiting for oil now and let’s hope the gasket has sealed
