Air Box mod. produces more oomph!

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Wrecked, Feb 14, 2013.

  1. B&Q?

  2. Seriously, what have you got and what do you think?

Is it a 'race' version as most seem to do them alongside of the standard hi flow

  3. DNA.
It was present when the +151BHP was measured in +34°C temperatures on the rolling road, so I think it's good.
AirBox opened nearside, "Ram" air tube on offside still connected.
MTS1200 is right behind the Supper Leggy until about 135-140MPH...then the Super Leggy switches to warp drive and disappears into distance.
Top speed is 155MPH+ (where possible)...so what else can I say.
If I wasn't riding this MTS1200 it would be another one.

I love em...simply the best "all round" motorbike in the world.

  4. That's pretty much what I'm looking to do.

Gonna add the filter and then drill out some nice holes in the left side airbox so it feeds straight in to the centre of the filter.

Do DNA offer more than one version?

  5. Not to my knowledge.
If you search you'll find my "soldering Iron taped to a stick" patented method is more that satisfactory for opening up the left hand side.
    It has many advantages.
    1 - No Swarf.
2 - Minimal strip down, just offside mini wing.
3 - Largest possible hole without air leaks.
4 - Easy to follow template (see dust marks on wall of air box).
5 - OEM look from outside box.
Downside is keyhole type surgery, may suit gynaecologist.

  6. I've just stumbled across an old post I read ages ago on the ktm sm forum, chap on there who did loads of great mods to the smr actually ran 3 filters back to back on a dyno got the best results from the dna, he seems to know his shit so what with you being happy as well I reckon I'll get one myself

  7. We'll the DNA filter turned up today, ill report back when I've tried it out

  8. Are you happy with it?

  9. Yes definitely, touch wood it seems to have cured the low down hesitant throttle and has generally smoothed the bike out nicely.

I've not touched the airbox in regards to modification so I reckon ill just leave it as it is for now.
