  1. That's because he's a hermit.

  2. I have an R1 in my single garage with my S1 Exige - it's a standard 70's style housing estate garage, it fits easy and I might squeeze another bike in there soon too :D

  6. I see a green bin poking it's nose into the photo.

It's awful the money you spend on a beautiful Porsche only for comments on green bins.

  7. Hey mate. I took mine to work on Tuesday and of course it pissed down hard all day ( no shit - 6 hours straight) of solid hard rain. When I got out at 6 pm I started it up and open boot to show the engine to mate of mine and it was full of water which come through air vents in The boot lid. I think alternator wiring got wet as car started sounding sick and stopped shortly after. Recovery man tested battery and confirmed that alternator is not charging battery, I got it towed home and hoping it will just dry out rather than me changin alternator . Will try it again on sat when it's meant to be warm.
So the question is: how do you battle water going in through the air vents? Surely car designed to be parked outdoors in any weather????

  8. I had no such issue Yev, mine was a different beast though.. different wing on the boot as I think it was slightly later model than yours.

I went right through the car, the wiring was archaic. I spent a lots of money and time on mine, did lot's or research.
I just googled, bought books read up etc.. It was a long time ago now.

I recall the new ignition system I installed was totally separate. I think it had a fused power supply of the main loom. I used a MSD ignition box and high voltage coil, had some high voltage leads made. It was spec'd for the car, adjustable rev limit.

My car was not very standard in the end. I had thousands of pounds worth of special carbs on it producing similar power to the 2.7RS. Changed the fan on the back as they were prone to getting hot and pulling head studs...

It's the same with my race car development... we can do things better now, people know more things that race teams did back then. I like the old cars but sometimes stock is hard work and I think it was more expensive to stick with the unreliable bits on my car that hindered performance. I'm not into putting liquid cooled motors in them but I don't have an issue with upgrading bits (keep the stock parts just in case), only certain models are worth silly money. The only thing I regret was changing the interior but I was young and on limited budget.

I'd love an 2.7 RS or an RSR now... maybe one day.
