Is the butterfly valve the thing that makes it the exhaust go quiet every so often? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It reduces the exhaust volume at idle and low revs by restricting the flow of gas. It's basically there to ensure the bike passes a noise test. People seem to believe that it assists with back pressure but modern 4 stroke motors work better without back pressure so that's nonsense. The OEM's set the valves to open at certain rev ranges, typically up the top end where the bike wont ever be scrutinized as the free flowing exhaust allows the bike to develop peak power. They're just dead weight - bin em on first sight!
Ah - I see. So can u actually remove them without causing any problems? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes but you can't unplug the motor until either the ecu is flashed (and the motor is deleted in that or you use a ducee to do the job... Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Is the Termi a dealer install only? Is special equipment needed to do the upmap? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It includes. Headers, gaskets, fitting kitting, upmap pendrive, high flow air filter cover and carbon heat shield.
Would installing either Akrapovic or Remus slip on inc link pipe (or any other slip on for that matter) def require remap? Would doing so without remap cause any damage? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It wouldn't cause damage, no. At worst it just wouldn't run right. Modern ecu's are pretty flexible and can adjust AF ratios on the fly to make up for minor changes like cans and filters. That's not to say that it's ideal, but it would definitely work.
Asking as might get one of the afore mentioned cans/link pipes and remap later down the line... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Personally I'd go for the akrapovic if I had to do it again. I like the look of the high level termi but the build quality of the akrapovic is better and I'd like to be able to fit the panniers to do some travelling on the SP
Yeah, from what I've read and seen of the Termi, can't say I'm impressed with the build quality Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The one I've got is spot on. Welding looks good, the fit is perfect and the carbon cap is really well made. I've heard mixed things as well but I seem to have lucked out.
My heat shield fits better now, but it's been a mix of heating up the brackets and bending them and fitting washers and spacers behind to get it somewhere closer. Looks ok now though. The welding is good, but in my opinion the titanium system with its laser welding looks better on the akrapovic. As I said before, I prefer the high level of the termi, but now I'd like to be fitting panniers for some distance riding
But for £2k the exhaust needs to be faultless. Once it's on, it's not like the dealer will remove it and refund. Too much of a gamble I'd say. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm coming round to the clean Akra approach with none of the shielding slapped on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's not really a 2k exhaust. You're paying for the convenience of the upmap more than anything else. If it was a 2k exhaust, it wouldn't have stainless headers...
