That is knackered! The rubber is so thin and that is the reason why it looks like that. Do a quick burn out if you want to see the cords, I've seen loads like this!
I stopped using diablos as I could never be certain if I had another days worth of welsh roads. Moved onto a tyre with a pattern that crosses the middle of the tyre.
Have had 2 sets of Diablo's and both have done this towards the end of their life. Has been a case of, I feel comfortable on the Diablo, why change.
You've worn thru the tread rubber, and into the carcass rubber, nothing to do with temp or anything else. Get it changed immediately.
The cracks weren't there when I last rode it. I'd have noticed when I was prepping it for winter. Back then it looked like there was a few mm of life left in it.
Roll your wheel around , it won't be all around the circumference, either that or someone's been riding your bike
Looks nearly worn through at the middle to me. When the rubber gets that thin it will show the effects of expansion and contraction (from heat/cold) more than on a newish tyre. Still, 6500 miles on a rear, that's good going. No more doughnuts and burn-outs for you, I think!
Now i know tyres are a personal choice, and mine are on my every day ride TL1000. But Michelin pilot road 3s are great in all weathers, and i got 11 months riding nearly every single day and just shy of 8000 miles from the rear, front is still on but now in desperate need of changing 14 months on. They grip hard enough in the wet to give full throttle power wheelies and don't just turn to snot and unroll in the summer heat, not that we had much. Has anyone else tried them and found the same but are just too ashamed to admit sport touring tyres are all you actually need on the road.
So have I, but I never felt comfortable with them especially in the wet and the mileage was appalling, more like 2.5k miles than 6k. Having tried PR3s and Metzeller Z8s (both so much better on the road) I realised the Diablo is not for me and I will never fit one again. 1037 don't be embarassed I found sport tyres to be crap for road riding unless they are at temperature (not for 90% of my driving through the year) and the feel in the wet from a sport tyre is rubbish in comparison with road tyres.
