  5. The French have a term “jolie laide”, which literally translates as “pretty ugly” but means something like “ugly but also beautiful”. I’m not sure if there’s an Italian equivalent.

  6. Pretty much but with a 3.0 litre 200hp V6.

And yes although it may look ugly(ish) in the photos it looks much much better in the flesh.

It's a 1990 design and doesn't look at all dated. Very individual and very stylish imo.

  7. 75 also came with a 3.0 V6.

  8. .. i had to turn one down for £400 when a partner in crime couldn't get his act together, it had medium rear damage but was still driveable and engine was a peach, still regret it now.

12 valve was far better overall performance-wise than the 24 valve (moo)

  9. When Ford Germany were developing their Cologne V6 engine, an Alfa V6 engine was spied on the bench in development dept as they had forgotten to put a sheet over it during a tour.

  13. quote above was for a 75 Jez? :upyeah:

I saw the SZ as a barely finished prototype at it's London Motorshow debut, there was quite an irony to it, but it's a long story and not really suited to the Forum.

  14. Nooooooo! That SZ thing may well have some good points but they are totally hidden. Just Google Ugly Alfa and its one of three, perhaps four which immediately appear.

Its puzzling, Alfa who undoubtedly have made some absolutely beautiful cars, dump out tasteless no hoper runts with alarming regularity every ten years or so. Perhaps they have one designer locked up in an attic?

  15. A long and seemingly exciting life -hanging out with Markku Allen in a Lancia Stratos takes a rare breed.

  16. not to mention Sandro Munari (the Dragon) who often gets overlooked and was in a class of his own.
