Givi waterproof duffel and some bungees for me loads of storage and I had these things called pockets for my wallet and passport
Looks like your Triumph riding mate is carrying all the camping stuff and his own clothes, small wonder all you needed was a duffel and some pockets.
@Sam1199 Yes I've done Riano - a fast lap of the lake is like 20 miles of Donington Park! There's one 120mph sweeper that just goes on and on....Stunning. I invested in a Ventura luggage rack and bags for the GSXR and never looked back - no messing about with straps and bungees. I rode to Bologna for the Ducati museum with a mate - he went on a 999R with a Ventura rack, but it was full of camping gear and broke his subframe!
Another vote for Ventura racks... I just got the shorter sports rack and the Gearsack tail bag bungees on it a treat, 37 litres the bag is and it’s enough for any tour I do. Have got into the habit of using these “ clothes cubes” and find they’re great, I seem to be able to fit more in an I’m better organised because of them. And then I put the whole lot inside a big 35 litre waterproof stuff bag. Normally our first and last days out and back for ferries are the big days, 300 miles plus, most of the other days are around 250 miles, that’s enough when you count in some mountain passes that really bring your average speed down, plus your on holiday!!..so you need time to stop and look at things, have a coffee and talk bollocks with your mates. I remember doing a tour inside the Maginot Line defence system in France one year and a couple of our friends are German ( we meet on day 1 at whatever hotel we’re staying at ) and Richard our German mate got the job of winding up the gun turret while we were in there,....pretty bloody ironic I thought ! The best feeling ever is on day 1 just as you ride off from home and I think to myself “ 7 days away on the bike “...get in !!!
Much respect to everyone on this thread. I can just about manage 1 full tanks worth of petrol (approx 120 miles) on UK roads and the following day I'm f@*ked. Cant imagine what 400 + miles must feel like. I guess the touring life just isn't for me.
