I found it pretty busy in that area anyway. Though if you are Italian, it seemed the speed limit was merely a suggestion…to be ignored.
Rode up the coast to Varenna last Sunday. Absolutely pee’d down. Even came through the tunnel roofs/side. New experience getting horizontally jet washed whilst in a tunnel Weather was so bad we turned back. Today, Tuesday it’s scorchio so hired a boat for a few hours and papped some lake side villas. Then back to B&B as there is an excellent ice cream place 2 doors down. This Guzzi was leant up against wall outside gelateria
Beautiful weather in The Alps, at the moment (Haute-Savoie). Hiking up to look at the wonders of nature. There is water everywhere, waterfalls, mountain streams, it’s amazing…
We’ve got to know the owner of a small Italian hotel near Lezzeno on the shores of Como. His hotel has been in his family for 4 generations. He reckons their weather is becoming tropical. When it’s hot it’s very very hot and when it rains it’s torrential.
Son and I were snowboarding in Tignes February gone, love it out there. He is hoping to spend a Winter season there, trying to learn French by reading a book, he be getting very frustrated with object pronouns.
Nearly back to Calais; an overnight in France 3 hours from the Chunnel. Had lunch in Luxembourg centre. Need to go back there; interesting place. Higher per capita GDP than Singapore apparently. Anyway 3 days riding the back roads of Europe and I ride over 2 potholes. THATS 2 potholes in 3 days of riding, avoiding autoroutes. Bloody amazing how everyone else can build proper roads. Even the bins in Luxembourg look mint. Why is it so crap in the U.K.?
The more I travel in Europe, the more I realise how they have got quality of life issues right and the UK has got it hopelessly wrong in so many ways.
