After Canepa showed some promise in Laguna seca he must have went back to superstock duties as Pirro is riding checa's bike this weekend. Not much hope there then!
Pirro is a very good, underrated rider. Canepa is a bit unstable, making him a great racer too. Nobody is doubting that spies can ride, he won in motogp, which is a lot more that most on that grid. Former wsbk champion to boot. Yes he has had an unlucky two years he never lived up to his potential and I know I've said if before, his mum, although helped him get to the top flight has utterly fucked his chances by staying on as his manager. If spies was managed by a professional like Livio suppo for example, he'd still be on a top factory spec machine

The main thing that happens is that superstock bikes are a good 2+ seconds a lap slower than the WSB bikes . The superstock Pani is only about .8 of a second slower than the WSB pani but the Kawasaki superstock bike is 2.2 seconds behind the WSB kawasaki and thats faster than the pani at magny cours this weekend. Theres no air restrictors or weight disadvantages the pani just isnt good enough.
i was always lead to believe that the Pani had the same 'Air Restrictions' as the 1098R did? Also because it supposedly had an extra 200CC's Dorna had to make changes together with weight restrictions too. Still couldn't see why Checa's 2012 race bike had to have an extra 6Kilo's added.
but thats why we have managers, experts, and people to put us at the front.....winners!!!! the rules are the rules they knew what they were getting into, built a bike accordingly......a little deluded perhaps to think the package would be competitive with the current rules and i dont think we can rely on them changing the rules for our benefit anymore....
Seems they always build one for next stage rather than current rules. Although Wilf seems to have had a leap forward today at BSB (no spoiler) so lets see how that transmits to race.
Pani is not restricted . It was , but , the restrictions were lifted about 5 races back it now has no air restrictors . Not that it made any differences .
In which case its a shitter! Not sure its down on top end tho, more the handling package. MR changed some geometry setting yesterday which seems to have made a huge difference in rideability and confidence. Progress every session, and made final qualifying so pretty good.
Are you sure the restrictions were completely lifted listening to Eurosport I thought that what happened a few races ago was the size of the restriction in the throttle body was changed to allow more air in but it's still restricted compared to the superstock bike

Thanks Andy so if that's article is reliable the bike is still being strangled by air restrictions and it's nowhere near getting the amount of air the 67mm throttle bodies were designed for.
So you didnt read the opening paragraph . We have since learned, and without any formal announcement, the FIM and DORNA have bypassed the published Technical Regulations (see below) and allowed the Ducati 1199RS Panigale Superbikes to now run open throttle bodies with no restrictors at all, since the Imola Round the end of June 2013.
