am I being a difficult customer

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by thespionkop, Jun 25, 2012.

  1. So, it was the race team owner with the Sachs in the Dyno room then....or was it the race mechanic with the billet titanium conrod in the parts dept....prefer this version to colonel mustard in the study with his pipe....

  2. When I was at Luigi moto Rich told me of a horror story involving a bike from there that he had in his place and the work was shocking.

  3. I don't think he's being a difficult customer.........F-me, how long does a full service take? Two days a most I would have thought.

Before on Ducatisti and since the new forum, because I am new to Ducati, even if the bike is 15 years old; I have been taking note of what is said about the main dealers and the issues people have with new bikes in particular.......Frankly, I think the attitude of main dealers is appalling (with the exception of MotoRapido), even with regard to one of the main dealers 'near me' with whom I was very friendly over the years gone by........

....he and they don't seem to give a flying fk, either when trying to sell you a bike and let alone when you have actually bought one....in fact they dont even try to sell you a bike.......they are usually staring into space and might, I repeat might, just about bother to answer any questions you may have.......usually about two questions and then they walk off to answer the phone or get a coffee.....

    ......Useless, basically.

  4. time to find another shop

  5. I do hope you get it sorted soon, not good so far. And a little bit of info for the
future. There are ducati independents much nearer to you who will also pick up and deliver. I know the trials and tribulations of trying to get work done ona bike when you are thousands of miles away, it's a right palava.

  6. For expertise, thoroughness and customer attention I can recommend Richard Green near Ruthin - not too far from the Wirral. He also collects and delivers by arrangement

  7. ok so now I finally get the invoice and its BIG

he tells me he has knocked some money off for the sheer fact that there was no excuse in turning the bike round so slowly (his words)

So i ask for the invoice to actually show where the discount has been made, no reply.

Am I being a complete nob by asking for the discount to be indicated on the invoice? As I see it is just an invoice, how do i know
I possibly tell if it has or hasn't been discounted???

Jesus am running out of patience with these people!

  8. I'd suggest you ask for a detailed invoice showing labour rate hours spent on bike and work that was carried out plus cost of any materials.this should tell you if any discount has been applied.good luck.

  9. phoenix,

i have a complete bill with the rather large total at the foot of it, adding everything up comes to what the bill says so where is the discount???

  10. Clearly there trying it on then.time to have words, but I would try too stay cool but be firm and too the point saying exactly what you expect and when.

  11. Agree, they need to show the discount somewhere even if it's labour they haven't charged for. The job sheets would help if you want to push that far

  12. Also, ask for the old bits removed during the service i.e belts, spark plugs, oil filter in plastic bag, old sump washers etc, then you can check them off against the invoice at the same time ensuring work has been done.

I have listened to too many horror stories around service items being charged and not so much as a plug being moved. The worst one being a friend of mine who took his Bandit to a large bike dealers (before , unsurprisingly, they went to the wall ) On collecting the bike, The sump plug had not even been moved let alone the oil changed!

    maybe a thought.

  13. Good idea Farty but any Duc dealer will have them bits hanging around.
Now what would be good is if you can post up the schedule of work your being billed for and let us come up with an estimate and see how much difference there is Spion.

  14. I feel your pain, I too have a horror story that I won't share at this time.

The bottom line is, you're going to have to pay aren't you?? Regardless.

It sucks, you leave your pride and joy in the hands of the 'pros' and all the time you're getting it up the ass. No excuses any more.

Myself, I won't let the bike out of my sight with ANYONE now, absolutely no-one.

I don't mind being fucked over for a few hours extra work that never took place, or charged for bits that were not even fitted. As long as the bike comes back to me as genuine as it was when it went out to them, and the work I asked to be done was completed satisfactorily, that's fine, I'm a happy bunny. What I do draw the line at is bits being taken off my machine and replaced with worn inferior items. Do these people think we're stupid? You know who you are, yer bastards!! Personally, I hope you get slow fucking cancer. I quit the motor trade many, many years ago for this very reason, a practice condoned by my (then) employer.

On a parting note even the most highly praised operations have their snakes so be extra vigilant.

Every dog and all that ...

  15. so i finally get the invoice discount...a whole £120 off a bill of £1200 fuck me what a bunch of c*nts

and yes JHP coventry I am talking about you

never again fellas, I like to be given the option of a reach round when i get fucked !!

  16. I had a friend take a bike round there for setting up the fuelling on the dyno.......They charged him over £100 for one run and said..."Yeah, its ok"...and that was it. A certain other team that no longer uses Panigales in BSB had issues with JHP "upgrades" to their engines too....but I guess nobody is perfect.

  17. What did you have done again?!

  18. A new bike by the looks.....

  19. I had a bad experience with them, haven't been back since!
