Am I being stupid?

  1. Right to go the whole hog, shut the fuel tap underneath the tank, pop the hoses off and remove the tank. a small spring clip holds the hinge pin in.

if you can do this when the tank is less than half full it makes it easier.

Underneath the tank is a 13mm (i think,) bolt which you can remove and fully drain the tank from its lowest point.

replace the bolt. take a little fresh fuel and swill it round the tank, drain again

While the tank is off and empty, you can remove the six 5 mm allen bolts that hold the fuel lock in place then carefully remove the 8 2mm allen headed grub screws that hold the inner ring in place. If the seal around this is perished get a new one, pull the inner ring gently upwards, this will allow you to see into and get your hand into the tank.

You will be able to see the fuel pump filter and pipework which is easily checkable and replaceable if necessary.

    replacement is the opposite operation.

  2. That is the perfect info, thank you very much. That will be my first job tomorrow morning.
Thank you for your help, I'll keep you posted.

  3. Had this with my ST2.
The drain had blocked and I tested this by dripping a little water ito the drain hole... Nothing ran through.
Cleaned the pipe out with a legnth of copper wire. Removed the tank an eptied it by tipping it upside down... Put a vacuum cleaner 'on blow' and ran it for some time.
Now the important bit... YOU WILL NEED TO CHANGE THE FUEL FILTER.

By the way .Being mean I put the contaminated fuel in a bucket, left it for a couple of days for the water to sink to the bottom, siphoned the petrol off the top and put it in my wifes car.

  4. All done. Runs beautifully once again. Just need a tank clip now mine broke. Anyone have one?

  5. It was probably too tightly adjusted..............

I have mended one before and it is still working (not mine, I hasten to add) but yours is very close to the pivot pin, so I might not be able to do it.....but I will have a go if you want.
