  2. We haven't...yet.
When I was little we went to bed on Christmas eve with nothing to show it was christmas in the house. My parents must have stayed up all night because on Christmas day the house was decorated, pressies under the tree the whole works. I did the same when my children were little but mainly bacause I was fed up with Christmas being shoved in our faces from November and decided home was going to be an 'oasis of calm'. Doing it like that also meant when the decorations were put up Christmas day arrived quickly. Now the tree and decorations go up 2 or 3 days before, we love Christmas (Melvin professes not to) but it's always been fairly low key.
Also the supermarkets are shut for 24hrs, but on Christmas eve the shelves are stripped bare then on boxing day they're heaving with shoppers!!!...that I really don't understand!??

  5. I'm pretty keen on celebrations. If you don't make them happen, they don't. So I make Xmas happen in a small way. Always a tree, a couple of presents, try to do some cards. There is turkey, I buy a pud and souse it in whisky before striking the match, I get a good bottle out of the cellar, and I make mince pies.

It doesn't have to be some monster commercial fest, but it's not a bad excuse for some top food and drink and I try and have some friends over during the week to help me eat and drink it.

So bugger all you miserable skinflints. Hope you don't get a moment's shut-eye in the constant din of Marley's ratting ball and chain.

  11. None for us this year. My Grandad is very ill and it's taken the shine off things.

  12. I hope he get better quickly dude.

  13. Hope your grandad gets well .
I miss mine so so much especially at Christmas.

My family spend Christmas Day doing what they want.
Then wonder why I get upset .
I try and do my best for my 2 boys.
Then they go to their dads which is way better then mine :( .
I find it incredibly hard playing happy families in my old home ...

After usually my Mum shouting at me down the phone that I should be enjoying Christmas ... I then get now they have all enjoyed theres .., when can we come up ????
To be honest I'm sick of it all by then.
I really don't want to be clearing up everything .. Or running about to please family ..
Work has drained me this term .
I would like to curl up or take bike out !!!
Holiday ?? What is one of those?

Last 5 years have just been grim.
Every year I say next year will be ok...

One day it's got to change!!!
But I think that's down to me to make things change .
So really need to make an effort next year

    I can't cook Christmas dinner either !
So I'm really quite a bad catch!
    Grumpy and can't cook !

  14. Despise it ...........

  15. Christmas at my brothers house is legendary, always enjoyable. There are a few decs up here, but his house will be very busy. I'm determined to really appreciate it this year, you never know what the future holds.....you might regret all those ba humbug Christmas days if something were to happen that permanently cancels Christmas.

  16. What do you expect from a half Norwegian Forest cat? The scent of a pine tree probably reminds it of past assignations, carefree strolls through Norwegian Forests or leaping from bough to bough whilst trying to escape from tougher Norwegian Forest cats to whom he owed gambling debts.

  17. your right, try making an effort! :)

  18. Humm reason enough to chop one down maybe - I may even buy a 3 bird roast to share with him on Christmas Day

It's a real shame Christmas has become so commercial- a home cooked meal and a small sacrificial offering is all that's needed in my book :-8

  19. How about a parrot, Norwegian Blue perhaps.

  20. i didnt realise i was amongst such illustrious company...i thought i was the only one who didnt give a shit..i feel a bit better now...i havent got any of that so called 'christmas feeling'...even when i try theres nothing there...its a bit like trying to believe in god, whoever she may be..
