I agree with Al on the bearing front. Dont go to Ducati for bearings as they are mostly SKF easily available for significantly less on ebay. Re the engine you could start with the heads, the studs are silver if early snappy type and later they appear quite dark in colour and have an O stamped on the outer end. Once you have had a look at valves, seats, cylinder bores etc you will have a good idea whether you should delve deeper, with that mileage I would suggest cracking it open, especially considering its history. However you may not want to delve that far just now...check that crank plug though. It can be done with the cylinders off. You can also do it via the mesh filter at the bottom of the engine, using a very small mirror.
