I had the stamp duty added to my mortgage, in which case it doesn't hurt nearly as much. But if you needed another 25 large in cash on top of having to find the deposit on a house - it's all a bit tricky, isn't it? Doesn't sound like a mansion tax to me. Sounds more like a clobber-the-middle-class-buyer-who-is-desperately-trying-not-to-live-in-a-shithole tax.
for those that didn't read from the start. get a pretty good house around here for that. albeit the wages are a bit lower around here. not as expensive as say the south east and london but we are not subsidized to the same level ether. the scrounging scumbags.
