Absolutely. Like in any top level sport we only see the winners and not the thousands of kid who fall by the wayside. That is not to say they should never try but it should be self motivated rather than parents trying to live vicariously through their children.
Where does that motivation come from? Wanting to please mum and dad? What kid doesn't want their parents approval, wll done little jonny, as a developing age. Then when (if) they get good at it its funny how they start liking it and move towards self motivation
Don't disagree bradders but it is the parents job to make judgement calls on what it available, appropriate and affordable. If little jonny shows aptitude and is motivated then go for it if you can. But put a child in a free sweety store and it leads to no end of confusion; Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ?
