  1. the 1098 was standard and not the s model either. it had standard gearing too which never helps a duke.
i think my modified 999 is more than a match for a base 1098.
calipers are one point where people expect to see the improvement as the later bike has monobloc calipers but i run them on my sp1 too up until recently and theres nowt in it. certainly not on the road.

1098 felt far more supple on the suspension but this is down to the last owner fiddling with the 999s suspension so im sure this can be changed.

other bits like, which felt lightest, was the clutch feel better etc unfortunately is just too long ago to give a honest comparison.

what i can tell you is i bought a 999 as i always wanted one. to me its the best and most individual ducati ever built (888 sp5 comes close second). it makes me smile every time i look at it. the 1098 didnt do that for me.
to put it another way, i have loads of bikes but only 1 off them lives in the house:upyeah:

  2. NICE TO SEE SOMEONE RATE THE LOOKS OF A 999 ABOVE THOSE OF A 1098. AS TO THE SP5, COULD NOT AGREE MORE. YOU ARE A MAN THAT STANDS OUT FROM THE CROWD SIR............
