  1. Having seen your FB posts you might want to adjust your target time somewhat Royal.

  2. That's very true but it's nice to have a goal even if it is rather optimistic, gives me something to work on :)

  3. When I was 16 I spent the entire summer holidays working to save up for one of these.

  4. a lot of years ago I had a beamish Suzuki trails bike, it was good, I was crap ! I ate a lot of mud in a short space of time.

    Coming on.............slowly.
It`s not all been plain sailing. The rear shock is a Marzocchi Duo with a remote damper control. I removed the spring to get it powder coated and then dropped the shock, this broke the flexi pipe. It`s going to need a full strip down to fix it.
One set of bearings in the suspension linkage came out easily, the other set required my mates 50 ton press to move them. The first set wern`t particularly worn but at £1.90 each it would have been silly not to change them. The bearings that were stuck had most of the needles missing so were well over due for a change.
On the good side, the crankshaft oil seals are done, the engine is a 249.4cc not a 212cc, so this makes the bike a Fantic 305.
I`m waiting for a new chain rubbing strip for the swingarm then that can go back on. I will then have to face up to repairing the shock, can`t believe I dropped the bloody thing.

  6. Looking good so far :)

  7. I recently traded my 1990's Kawasaki KE100 for a nice shiny new Honda CRF250L - it's really good, and I'm still really crap... The only problem now is that I can't blame the bike anymore !

  8. Off the bench and on it`s wheels, well, one wheel.
The front brake was dead easy to bleed, probably the easiest I`ve ever done.
The Marzocchi Duo shock ended up being uneconomical to repair. As well as the damage I`d done when I dropped it, the piston rod was bent as well. I`ve got a second hand aftermarket shock that fits so that`s ok.

  9. She's looking good. I got this one at the weekend, such a blast to ride. Permanent wheelies!

  10. is it a fantic 305?

  11. That`s correct idrinkbeer, it`s a Fantic 305. It was advertised as a Fantic 245 and I only found out it was the 305 model when I stripped it down. The seller did say it was a bit of a handful to ride, now I know why.
A bit of useless information. For some reason Fantic used the model number and not the engine cc, so,
    Fantic 125.5 is 80cc.
    Fantic 245 is 212cc.
    Fantic 305 is 249.4cc.

royalwithcream, is that a 250 TXT?
I`ve owned a couple of Gassers. My first trials bike was a 1990 327cc air cooled monoshock. My kids hard at work, cleaning the beast, would be mid 2002. I only had this bike a few months before some lowlife stole it.
They`re as rare as hens teeth now.

  13. It's definitely getting there...
    :upyeah:

  14. All I remember of Fantic was that every teenaged youth wanted one when I too was that age...... presumably that makes it 'good'.
