Nothing new, mooted for several years in the area around Loomies. Where I live, apart from the HD owning numpty with a straight through exhaust, the problem is modified cars, 5 buggers in a stones throw from my house, all of which rival the numpty with the HD. Andy
These are being installed along the A272 / A32 area in Hampshire. I wonder how many standard Ducati’s will trigger the cameras and and how you’ll go about proving your innocence? I’ve got a pair of arrow cans on my scrambler, E stamped and road legal with their baffles installed but it’s still loud, as it was with the standard cans. It’s only quiet at 30mph at 3000rpm when the butterfly valve kicks in and it goes into stealth mode
I’m sure the intention is to predominantly stop the back firing cars, but bikes will get caught up. Be very annoying to get caught and then have to swap exhausts and get an MOT as evidence.
There would be 5 buggers with potatoes shoved up their pipes at 3 in the morning if they lived near me.
It will be even more "annoying" when you have to explain in court why your bike has exceeded the noise mandate for the second time despite your previously denying that your exhaust was illegal...
LMGTFY: “Bristol Live can reveal that the cameras will be placed on a section of the A4174 dual carriageway between the Kingsfield roundabout - the one for Asda and the Longwell Green cinema and leisure centre and the Wraxall Road roundabout, the next one north for Cadbury Heath and Warmley Hill.” i.e. they’re in South Gloucestershire not Bristol.
Wow - theres a few about then....well, my hyper has got a 7x9 nestled and recessed between the end pipes of an SC project full system....might get a smaller plate....whats the noise threshold (to pick up prizes)?
You get a ‘Notice of Intended Prosecution’ through the post which, if it’s the same as a speeding NIP, you must receive within 14 days of the alleged offence. Andy
That’s true, it’s “The Vehicle Registration Offences” (Penalty Points) Bill. 3 points & £100 fine for anything other than legal plates. Second fine for repeat offence £1000. Expected to be put into law early next year.
Thanks for the reply. I understand that you’ll quickly find out if you have breached the noise threshold. What I’m asking is how do you know if your car or bike will breach that threshold? With speeding there are speed limits and your vehicle has a speedo. What are the limits and indicators with noise?
