Any Feedback On Moto Skiveez ?

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by Android853sp, Aug 3, 2019.

  1. The std. Multi DVT seat is horrible, quite how Ducati justified fitting this to their premium touring bike is beyond belief. Likely resulted a them selling plenty of the comfort seats which was maybe their twisted strategy all along... The Touratech versions, discontinued after 3 years when the 1260 came out so in short supply, are probably the best off the shelf solution.

I designed this seat, complete with gel pads. Way more comfortable. You sit level and don’t slide into the tank. I’ve toured all over the place happily. Several people have bought them off me including Freshage.
    They fit the 1200 or 1260 DVT’s.

Get in touch if you want a set, rider & pillion.

  3. Well I bought a pair, it does feel like you've pooped your pants when walking but not had a chance to use them on the bike yet.

  5. I bought the Winx wheels ones, pretty sure they're just rebranded cycling shorts. Don't work for me.

Also have a sheepskin cover, marginally better.

I have had the seat modified so it's no longer pushing me forward, and there's a gel pad in there but it still puts all your weight on quite a small area of bum. Would like to try a Touratech seat (1200 Enduro) but they're like hen's teeth of course.

  6. I shall report back after the EMM. I also got my seat reupholstered with memory foam.

  7. Update, just bought the Oxford air seat thingy, seems good once you get the right amount of air in. Probably no good for hooning as you're a bit disconnected from the bike but for long boring motorway trips it should be perfect.

Unclips from the bike easily, even comes with a little pump that fits in the cubby hole under the pillion seat (1200 Enduro).

  8. Just back from 2,000 mile trip on the EMM. I wore the Moto Skiviees for the whole trip, hard to say how much effect they had but combined with the memory foam seat adaptation I’d had done overall it was pretty comfortable. As the week went on and you get ‘bike fit’ I could easily ride 2 to 2.5hrs in reasonable comfort.

Before I went I’d bought an Air Rider seat cushion which I tested but didn’t end up using. It’s a clever bit of kit, much better than an airhawk. You don’t flop around on it like the air hawk. It also has a valve that allows you to adjust the pressure by adding or removing air as you ride. So you can add a bit of air on the motorway and then let a bit out when you get to a twisty road. Works well and feels more stable.

    I got the medium size

Im going to sell this as I don’t think I’ll need it now. £70 posted if anyone is interested?

  9. I’m not blown away by the skiveez. The padding is very thin. Not sure how it’s helping tbh. Id say they give a small improvement but are too expensive for what they are. They’re like very cheap cycling shorts. The rippl ones look far more padded but don’t own those so can’t comment on performance.

  10. I have the Touratech seat. It is much better than the standard seat and worth getting. However it just delays the discomfort by quite a bit but you still end up in pain eventually if you don’t stop. . No matter what I do I just need to get off and have a break. I have to do it before the pain starts otherwise the damage is done and the discomfort starts again.

Skiveez and touratech seat combined do really help over just trousers and standard seat but the pain does still
    Come eventually.

  11. Just wanted to give another update in case anyone was looking for a solution to the numb bum.
I had my V4 seat remodelled with memory foam, that combined with the Moto Skivies work we for me.

I still have the Air Rider cushion for sale, price reduced to £60 and it’s pretty much brand new

  12. I actually threw out a near new set of Skiveez a short while ago. They felt like I had shat myself with all the padding lol :D On the Multi, I tried a number of seats including the Touratech but did not find any of em comfortable after an hour. THEN, I bought an Alcantara low seat meant for the Pikes Peak models. That was the most comfortable seat I have ever used. 400 miles in one day and no discomfort at all. Yeah, it was a little bit lower, but the whole profile was better and did not roll me into the tank. I took it off before I sold the bike so will list it for sale on here at some point. If you get a shot at one, snap it up :)
