People seem to be forgetting that even Rutter struggled to win on the 1198 (or was it still 1098R?) last year in BSB whilst Checa was dominant in WSB. So until you see it in full WSB spec its not clear how well it go on winning races. JIMHO.
Ok...well from our team point of view, we too have been disappointed with the lack of performance. However, there are a number of issues which contribute to that. We have a rev limit in BSB, and may not rev beyond that. Secondly, no one has ever run the Panigale on the Motec control ecu...and we have had to build our own looms too.....all of which takes time and research.....then you have to input information to map it...and there isnt any...so it has all had to be educated guesswork. Comparing Alex Politas BSB Panigale with the Superstock bike that won the other week, they produce similar overall power, but the Marelli fuels better coming out of corners, so the power is available more readily, and sooner......we still have to get a smooth transition from the ride by wire to the Motec, and translate that into actual "feel".....not as easy as it sounds. So far it has involved several trips to Italy to the factory dyno....so all efforts are being thrown at this.......we still await factory race parts too, and are running stock road engines, albeit with a kit gearbox.....and this year is a development year after all......Keep the faith guys, we are working hard to improve !
