Oberon (or others) clutch master cylinder. I find the clutch heavy (yeah wimp I know) especially if you have shorty leavers. £85 ish I've been quiet for a while as my 999s has had a bunch of stuff done during a busy old summer of riding. Features in this video Can agree with the fuel pump relay (it let me down) esp' the wrap in a rubber glove. I picked up a faster action throttle off eBay which I can adjust - different cam profile depending where you connect the cables. I managed to bend a handlebar (Cadwell oops) so have fitted Renthal clip ons and junked all the brake reservoir for Brembo items - a bit more fiddly as I was changing the throttle and (lucky bastard) fitting a more snug 999r fairing. Need to finish the job with some carbon brackets. Single seat unit, check. I've gone for the 14/38 ratio (keeps the same chain), so it's pretty zippy now and much less lumpy at 30mph through the villages. Have also scoured for carbon bits and had em painted as per 999r style (let the carbon show through) - mudguard and seat cowl the same.
Change the head angle to race position, adjust ride height at back to max recommended and set up the suspension. Different bike. OGR
Are there no downsides to lowering the gearing? I put a 14 tooth sprocket on my 750SS but ended up taking it off again, so have held off on doing this to my 999. I found I missed the long-legged feel of the higher gearing, with the bike feeling quite buzzy at speed. That bike was only five speed though and geared lower than a 999 to start with, so maybe I should just go for it. Anybody geared their bike down and regretted it? Also, there is another 999/749 mod that some people have done, which is to modify the dip switch so that instead of switching from the low beam light to the high beam light, the low beam light remains on, adding to the high beam light and gives a much better spread of light on the road. Also, if you feel inclined to engage high beam for daytime running and have replaced your feeble parking light with a high power LED, your 999 will have serious road presence! (Especially if you replace your standard bulbs with plus 110% xenon-white bulbs like mine...) The mod is very simple and just involves taking the cover off your left side switch gear/fast idle lever assembly and bridging two wires together. Those who are a dab-hand with a soldering iron, solder a bridge across and others use a scotchlock joining clip. Google 999 headlight mod for more info.
I went up three at the rear sprocket on my 999 as I subscribe to the theory that a 14t front is too small for decent chain life. I know not everyone believes that theory. I don't regret the mod one bit. Crisper acceleration, a decent engine speed at 30mph for a smoother ride. I even managed to see 159mph on the speedo in 5th one time (forgot to change up!) so you really lose very little at the top. My 750 has a 42t rear sprocket. I have noticed a loss of top speed but it does get to where it's going much quicker and better than with the standard cog.
