I am also a 2 stroke lover. I have a couple of RD350LC's one a bit special that I am going to sell. A pair of TZ350's and an RS250 Aprilia which is great on the track. My TZ350G following a tidy up after my off a month ago...... for sale! if you fancy a trip to france to pick it up, my special RD350LC. Its a 81 4L0. rebuilt from chassis up and mint. Ohlins shock. 1WT Showa forks. 2 piston calipers, Bembo master TZ 750 barrel, head and pistons 34mm Mikunis TZ ignition Welded crank. Engine only run, never ridden. Etc etc etc etc etc if anyones interested its going for a song, too many bikes.
I have a set of brand new genuine RD250LC standard pipes that I paid £50 for when Rafferty Newman were selling new old stock. Nice to know I could make a such a profit on them not that I would ever sell them as they are earmarked for when that rebuild eventually comes. I even had the original boxes for them at one time.
Out of interest was it quicker than the TZR250 SP, I thought that was supposed to be a pretty trick bike, I only ever saw one for sale over here in a Grey bike dealers
My last Lc/ypvs /rgv hybrid, owned loads of lc,s built several specials and sold all my NOS yambits on the bay several years ago, incl green passivate bolts for stupid money and I mean really stupid prices, wish I had loads more
But when you had genuine Yamaha bags with the all important 4L0 prefix people went crazy, sold the 2 front indicator stems just them for over £120, indicator bolts at £25 each etc etc the stupid thing was a lot of the stuff at the time you could still get new, sold a KAS painted panel set and tank, admittedly the panels were new for well over £1000. crazy prices. people were getting into a bidding frenzy. This was just my spares that I had accumulated, I dread to think what they sell for now.
1996 Japanese import RGV250SP VJ23 ... the last and most advanced of the RGVs and the closest thing there is to a road-going old-style 250 GP bike - pretty much the 2-stroke equivalent of a Ducati superbike in fact  70 degree v-twin, dry clutch, ram air, banana swing arm. Gorgeous. I have this genuine factory Lucky Strike and another as a spares / donor. I have a derestricted CDI and Sugaya pipes for this waiting to be fitted
Yes love them you cant beet the smell of Castrol R takes me back years! I've got a 1978 Yamaha RD400 air cooled coffin shaped tank in yellow. I'll see if I can dig out some pictures to post at the weekend.
Hi, Some fantastic bikes there fella's. Certainly put mine to shame !! I love the aircooled 400's and have had 3 in the past. The first one was built by me back in the 80's; The last one, built entirely from parts, was sold a couple of years back; Always had to sell a bike to get another, but I plan to keep the two Hybrids now no matter what ! Dusty
I always thought the exhausts were all the same, it doesn't matter as I wouldn't part with them anyway. I guess they must be worth more than £50 though.
Will be worth more than £50, considerably more, 250 are marked 4L1, 350 are 4L0, there is also paint spots on them, green? for 250 blue for 350? could be wrong about the colour of the spots though. TBH no one kept an lc standard in the day so I don't see the point of concourse restorations
Yeah, I spent my yuff riding RD250 & RD350LC's, normally wheeling the tits off them outside the chippy trying to impress the girls. The one with the biggest melons would get an extra large wheelie. It didn't get me very far though and thinking about it, I must have looked a right tool. With my RD350LC, lumber jacket, jeans and cheap AGV lid. The smell of Castol R, mingling with chip fat, vinegar, cheap perfume and Brut 33. Ahhhhhhh................. If I'd stop handing my pay check to Ducati, I'd love another. I always wanted a Honda NS400R in fag packet colours. I thought the RD350LC was expensive at about £1,200 when new, this baby was £2400 !
^^ I never realised they were only a couple of hundred quid more than the 250. I paid £999.00 for mine brand new in the then latest colours of black with red stripes. Mine was an 1982 model
So for a rather rare and fast stroker look at this, I was at a friend last monday and found this Modenas KR 500 hiding under a dust cover. it is a work of mechanical, titanium, carbon etc etc art. there was plenty more GP bike treasures hidden away
