Anybody else find MCN really irritating?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by brog86, Jan 29, 2014.

  1. Yep - but I still buy it most weeks to read on the train or plane when I'm travelling.

  2. i'm allowed to buy mcn every week with the shopping because once i've read the racing section, it makes great liner for the guinea pigs litter trays for them to wee & sh!t over....

  3. I commute by train so it passes the time on the Wednesday commute. As others above, I start at the back and work towards the front of the paper. It's a tabloid at the end of the day so you can't expect too much. It is a shame that everything is about going flat out though. Production quality gets worse every week with more spelling mistakes etc..... and as for the complete idiot who ruins the MotoGP reports with moronic similes in virtually every paragraph just to fill space rather than write properly, now that is irritating.....

  4. I subscribe to bike, which is a bit rubbish really. I wish there was a top gear equivalent for bikes - works out at about £2 a month compared to the £4 for bike.

  5. I don't mind it too much, especially for the racing section which to be honest is the only reason I get it. Outside of the racing season I don't bother. Now that Adam 'Chad' Child is racing at the TT it makes the inaccuracies of the TT less than it did before.

As for the rest of it though, yes it is irritating as I find the coloured ink makes my asshole a funny colour.

  6. Mcn is shit-period.

    Reviews- pants
    Classified- pointless
    Sports - old news

It does come in handy if your caught short.....
Always keep a copy in the glovebox !

  7. .... and they keep putting the price up, thought the cost of paper and print was coming down.

I'm just waiting for the pothole campaign articles, the summer riding gear survey, the tyre test etc etc the same old stuff.

  8. Autocar is just as bad, they keep going on about how good it is on the limit, I think most bike and motoring mags would benefit from a reality check and tone down some egos.

I like Practical Sportsbikes, it's a bit more based on my budget!

  9. I thought this was Ducati Forum not Hipster Forum...

  10. In life you need something to like and something to dislike.

For me MCN fills one of those needs.

  11. If ppl dislike it so much how do they know it hasnt "improved" if you haven't read it / dont buy it ?

  12. You don't have to buy it to read it.

    That's what newsagents are for...

  13. I cant read

  14. ha that's in todays. I still prefer to read info by thumbing through a paper than reading it on a screen, so I guess i'll still be buying it for a while yet.

  15. Fuckin' Hell, does life get any better, you're living the dream! :upyeah:

  16. You've just got to glance over at their front cover while picking up caravan monthly to see its the same old sensationalist "first ride my arse" shit :)

  17. Have to agree MCN is rubbish now and has been for the last 4 years I hate to say. I don't buy it anymore I get my info from crash.net:upyeah:
They need better articles better info to justify the cost

  18. MCN is not great, I still buy it mainly for the sport which is pretty thin at the moment. I do like MCNsport magazine though. I tried the ipad version today and to be fair it's pretty good, bit steep at £4.99 for a virtual mag but lots of content. Only bad bit is I can't read it in the bath.

  19. MCN is the Autotrader of the bike world. A vehicle for sellers to display their wares-thus generating advertising revenue-with a few cursory articles thrown in. If you don`t expect anything better, (and you shouldn`t) then you won`t be disappointed.

  20. Yes it's going downhill, still buy it every Wednesday..... Don't no why..... I wonder what the circulation figures are?
