1299 Anybody Experiences With Rapidbike

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by eDUCATIon, Aug 16, 2016.

  1. How are the RB owners getting on?
Was it worth the outlay and definitely notice a difference?

Thinking about eating one soon before the price goes up...

  2. By now I start feeling the difference. We all know the feeling first gear, second, third, back to second, third, no no back to second and so on. So that's over now, you can cruise in second without making a fool out of yourself by keep gearing up and down like crazy.

I do feel some more response power in the midrange although to be fair; my hair was on fire already going full throttle through the gears but in a nutshell.. yes go ahead and order.

Last but not least, the sloppy throttle spacers are (20 USD) a very useful gadget as well. Your throttle feels nice and firm and response is immediate.

  3. I fitted the Rapid bike evo after fitting a 14T front sprocket to try to improve the low speed riding when riding around town and through villages, although this did improve the low speed riding by raising the revs I still wasn't happy with the low speed riding characterisitics.
The Rapid bike has changed that now and the bike runs cleanly at 30mph and will pull 3rd gear easily with no jerking or hunting at these speeds, i have fitted termis now with an upmap and have changed the base map to suit, I was told this wasn't neccesary as the auto adaptation would eventually compensate for the exhaust change but by changing the base map it would give a better starting point (there are a number of base maps to use depending on mods).

There are some good threads on the US 1299 forum that are worth a read as it seem to be a very popular mod over there, I would recommend if you are unhappy with the low speed riding and intend to make some mods later on you as the evo will compensate for the changes.
Fittting was a bit fidley as the instructions aren't very clear, I initially fitted the harness but with afterthought i went back to it the next day and re-routed the harness to a position i was happier with.
The software is quite comprehensive and you can see the changes the auto adaptivity is making, the evo only changes the fuelling the racing changes the ignition as well but this should really be changed in conjunction with a dyno.
I also like being able to remove the evo and fit to a different bike with the use of the harness specific to that bike or even sell on when the 1199 go's.

Overall very pleased with the results, I did a lot of reading on the forums before purchasing and found it very helpfull.

  4. It sounds like you guys are happy,
I guess the ignition can adapt on the road instead of a dyno?
Problem is I don't have a dyno near me and I don't do track days, is EVO version enough or is the racing worth getting for the ignition adaptation feature as well?

    Thanks

  5. How much is an evo?

  6. Just get the evo! I have it, it definitely makes a difference. You don't need the race unless you're actually racing. Install isn't hard, just a little time consuming.

  7. Steveo,
I'm not sure if the ignition curve will auto adapt i would look into this before buying.
Camelfamer the price of the evo is just over £400 depending on where you buy, some people are asking more on ebay for some reason?

  8. How does this work with warranty issues? Can you just remove it and they won't be none the wiser?

  9. Yep than can be done

  10. The rapidbike does not physically change anything on the bike so removal will return the bike to standard should any problems arise or if you wish to return the bike to standard.

  11. Did any of you guys fit the RB with a dyno before and after?

  12. Is there a UK distributor for RB?

  13. Carson, i think there are a number of resailers in the UK, but i bought mine from performance parts in Daventry.

  16. Are you guys using a different air filter to the original air filter. Does an aftermarket air filter work better with the RB or not?

  17. I have a Sprint filter in mine plus I have a full (decatted) 1299 system, larger bore to the 1199.

  18. The exhaust options on the 1299 seam to be ridiculous money
